The senior class left us with some memorable performances. One 2021 prospect helped his team to a 26 point win, another beat a 5A title contender, while another going under the radar. Join me as we dissect the games of 5 winning seniors.

Xavier Gaffney | Wakeland

Gaffney provided defensive pressure with Lewisville and its proceeding in his starting guard role. He’s a defensive playmaker racking up steals and transition opportunities. He likes to get out in run hunting early scoring opportunities with his transition passing.

[player_tooltip player_id="779870" first="Zhuric" last="Phelps"] | Duncanville | SMU

The explosive guard going to SMU had another complete game. Phelps finishes with authority, catching an alley-oop dunk every game. Phelps even caught an effortless poster at the rim against a top ten 5A team. A consistent jumper rounds out a lethal athletic point guard.

[player_tooltip player_id="887079" first="Shaun" last="Walker"] | Manvel | McNeese

McNeese State is getting a load of man on the block. The 6-7 forward bangs as well as anyone in the state with soft hands feet that glide across the painted area. Walker owns space and with a bump or two, he’ll take yours. The defense sagged off Walker in this game, giving him a chance to show off his dribble-drive game and just how hard it is to stop him when he’s in motion.

Lamodrick Johnson | Sulphur Springs

Composure is the word for this four year starter when he’s on the court. Even in the face of throwing a dart in between a closing window in transition, Johnson is calm looking to make the next play. Good size for the position at 6-3 is a bonus for the smooth floor general. His length is present on the defensive. A high finish off the glass and a floater in traffic shows touch around the rim. A consistent late possession playmaker.

Jerome Rogers | Madison

The 6-2 Rogers came to play defense against their star-studded competition. The state championship winning guard covered guards using his speed to mirror them and big wings using his length to keep them at bay on the perimeter. Offensively, he likes to push the pace, attacking his defender to initiate the offense. Rogers can play at multiple speeds and hit an outside shot when off-ball. He hit multiple mid range shots when the offense collapsed.
