Wednesday prospects from across the state could sign their National Letters of Intent with colleges for one week which is the “early signing period.” Who are the best unsigned players left heading into the winter? We dive into that here in Top Unsigned 2021 Wings!

[player_tooltip player_id="821763" first="Jakobi" last="Heady"] (Hillcrest)

Heady is the top wing remaining on the board. Long and lanky small forward that has a slender frame. He first broke out last season including an eye opening performance at the Team Rose Shootout. Heady is a knock down shooter from three. Bit of a slow release, but it goes in at a nice clip. Explosive athlete around the rim finishing with monster slams. Length plays well on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id="765176" first="Quani" last="Rudd"] (Mt. Vernon)

Rudd continues to be one of the most under recruited prospects after not many saw him during the summer, but this kid has talent. The best senior prospect in southern Illinois, Rudd is an athletic two way wing that can score from multiple levels with an improving outside game. He is at his best in the open floor and getting downhill.

[player_tooltip player_id="765160" first="Amar" last="Augillard"] (Zion Benton)

Strong and stocky small forward that produces at a high level. The Zion Benton 6’5” small forward had an excellent junior season. Improved his perimeter jump shot where he is a threat from three especially off the catch. His power game when he takes weaker defenders to the post is where he is unstoppable. Plus rebounder. Could definitely be a combo forward at the low-major level.

[player_tooltip player_id="920943" first="James" last="Dent"] (Springfield Southeast)

Dent is a long and wiry two guard that has been very good over the last two years of high school and even upped his game when it came to summer ball. This summer with the Illinois Hoopstars he lit up nets with several huge outings. Silky smooth shooter that flashes off the bounce and with the ball in his hands.

[player_tooltip player_id="830601" first="Tevin" last="Smith"] (Danville)

Smith is one of the most intriguing players remaining on the board. He was once a top 10 player as an underclassmen. A couple of knee injuries have hampered his progress, but from clips we have seen this fall it looks like he has recovered and the powerful athlete is primed for a big season whenever that comes. When he is right he is a mid-major talent.

[player_tooltip player_id="821734" first="Jaiden" last="Lee"] (Joliet West)

Lee is one of my favorites of the wing class. Long and slender two guard that can really shoot it from the perimeter. Feathery three point shot especially off the catch. High level shot maker from all over the floor. Most likely will have to go the JUCO route for a couple years.

[player_tooltip player_id="995969" first="Bennie" last="Slater"] (Springfield)

Slater is a point-forward that impressed on his junior film. We like his size for position, versatility, and his passing was extremely intriguing. Good athlete that can put it on the deck.

[player_tooltip player_id="821774" first="Noah" last="Franklin"] (Cobden)

Speaking of point-forward types Franklin is another one of them. The small school southern Illinois 6’7” forward has excellent size and off the charts feel for the game. Really like his vision in both the half court and transition. Sound jump shooter from mid-range and can stretch to three on occasion. Has major bounce to his game as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="920952" first="Tommie" last="Williams"] (Belleville West)

Williams has been on the radar since his sophomore season when he helped the Maroons win a state title. He is at his best with the ball in his hands being able to create off the dribble. Has the chance to develop into a nice defender at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="920972" first="Jaden" last="Terrell"] (Wheeling)

Terrell is your classic three and D wing. The lefty has a sweet looking stroke from beyond the arc drilling them at a high clip especially spotting up. Defends multiple wing positions and uses his length effectively. Runs the floor hard in transition and in the summer he showed improvement of his handles.

[player_tooltip player_id="821756" first="Jeffrey" last="Oakley"] (Corliss)

Oakley is a prospect we have been high on throughout his career. Made the move over from Perspectives to Corliss for his senior campaign. Like the athleticism and tenacity that he plays with. Chance to develop into a two way wing that should be on the radar of D2s.

[player_tooltip player_id="920966" first="Tyler" last="Van Eekeren"] (Benet)

TVE had a monster summer for Hoops Intensity Training. The Benet wing had previously been looked as a spot up shooter. While he was effective at that what stood out to us was his growth as a ball handler being much more assertive putting it on the deck in the half court and getting buckets in transition. Tough kid that rebounds and defends.

[player_tooltip player_id="920963" first="Hamahrie" last="Bowers"] (Hillcrest)

Bowers is the third of the Hillcrest standout wings in 2021. The lefty is a legit D2 prospect in his own right. Sound spot up shooter that is most effective off the catch. Like his defensive capabilities quite a bit how he can check multiple spots and is adept at flying in to block a shot.

[player_tooltip player_id="920951" first="Odin" last="Lium"] (Oswego East)

Lium is a prospect that we still believe his best basketball is ahead of him. Projectable small forward with a thin build and a long frame. Most effective when his jump shot is falling, but does present some bounce to his game as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="995971" first="Ethan" last="Roberts"] (Hersey)

Roberts has elevated his stock this fall with his showing at the Details Training sessions. Wing with excellent size for position and a lights out three point shot. Quality athlete as well that will see a bump in our next rankings update.
