Jermel Grigsby (Illinois Outwork)
Grigsby put his name on our radar with a strong weekend for Illinois Outwork. The 6’4” wing and others will have to step up for Curie this season with the graduation of lots of seniors. What we liked with Grigsby was his size for position along with plus athleticism and shot making from beyond the arc.
Brenden Moss (Illinois Stars)
This long and thin 6’4” small forward took a while to get into it over the weekend, but he was magnificent on Sunday against Minnesota Heat. The angular wing from Rockford Jefferson is a three and D wing with room to keep getting better. Moss drilled multiple threes with a smooth looking stroke. Mixed in a few slashes taking good angles. Defensively he got after it with his long arms getting in passing lanes and disrupting opponents. Also high pointed several rebounds flying in from the perimeter.
Antonio Leavy (Illinois Stars)
Like Moss this Rockford Jefferson 6’6” center wasn’t on our radar coming into the event. He most definitely left as a player to track. Wide bodied five man is a space eater on the interior. Rebounds well in his area and moves fairly well for how big he is. Against the huge frontline of Minnesota Heat he came out aggressive with a couple scores on post touches and fought on the boards.
Michael Hamilton (Sharks Basketball)
This St. Patrick’s 6’6” four man has a lot of athletic pop in the front court. He showed that off by throwing down a lob to start the second half. Uses his length and mobility inside to be effective.
Tai Walters Tai Walters 5'11" | PG Homewood Flossmoor | 2021 State IL (Team RWA)
Walters opened our eyes a week ago with his knock down shooting. This week he was forced to play more on the ball with Fears out. Showed a solid feel with slip passes and making quick decisions with the rock in his hands. Scored on a scoop shot and also connected from three. Did the little things that have come to be expected out of the Homewood Flossmoor guard.
Cameron Lewis (Illinois Jaguars)
This DePaul Prep 6’0” guard was a factor for the Illinois Jaguars in transition. He was good at pushing in the open floor using his speed and court awareness. Should be in a DePaul Prep guard rotation that will be excellent this upcoming season.
Tyler Wildermuth (HIT Select)
Wildermuth jumped on our radar with a strong showing for HIT Select. The IC Catholic 5’10” point guard is a sound shooter off the catch from three. Also a pesky defender that got to the hoop a few times.
Mike Rheintgen (HIT Select)
This Downers Grove South 6’7” four man is a slower power forward that is crafty down low. The lefty has some face up ability knocking down a baseline jumper and scoring off an out of bounds play.
Sherby Brown (HIT Select)
Brown is a 6’0” point guard from Fenton. Slick ball handler that got in the lane and made an acrobatic spinning layup. Also knocked in a 15 foot jumper.
