is another top name to know at the point guard spot out of the 919 area. He’s an athletic, wiry floor general that plays with a high IQ and strong presence as a shooting threat with the ball in his hands. He finished his career at Trinity Academy Raleigh as quite the decorated floor general with a 48-10 record with averages of 21.7 ppg, 4.0 apg, 4.0 rpg and 1.4 spg while shooting 30 percent from 3-point range as he remains an uncommitted name in the final 2023 rankings. He knows how to control the pace with his ability to run the show as he did for his squad in 2022-23 before falling in their second round of the NCHSAA State Playoffs. He’s a prospect to keep an eye on this summer on the recruiting scene as a DI prospect with offers and interest from a few mid-major programs already.
'23 Kevon Vanderhorst (@kevon_v4) nearly led the @TAR_Basketball to a comeback in double overtime, knocking down some big shots down the stretch at the lead guard spot!

Vanderhorst is quite an underrated name to get to know in NC’s 2023 class with Trinity Academy Raleigh to get eyes on. He’s a surefire D1 prospect, especially for Ivy League schools looking to improve their backcourt and athleticism on the roster. He doesn’t force shots and knows when to push the pace and when to ease back and get his guys into their sets. Another strong decisionmaker in the 2023 class.

Vanderhorst was stellar at the lead guard spot for TAR as he finished with 21 points and five assists to show off his ability to lead the offense. He did a lot more distributing in the first half but in the second was a lot more aggressive at scoring the ball and knocking down shots on the perimeter. He posted 19 of his 21 points in the second half to boost the offense when it was needed.

Vanderhorst had a solid all-around game, finishing with 27 points, four rebounds and four assists to lead the TAR backcourt. He showed he could knock down shots on the perimeter and get to his spots off the bounce without issue. He’ll need to show more aggression on the defensive end in terms of getting stops and converting turnovers into points on offense.

Vanderhorst was impressive at the lead guard spot for Trinity Academy Raleigh in their victory over Washington High. He finished with 22 points, five rebounds and three assists to show off his ability in the backcourt. He’s an unsigned senior guard that DI and DII schools should get eyes on given his athleticism and ability to create off the bounce.
