We first spotted Butler late last season with Sprague and he immediately caught our attention with his length, athleticism, and positional size for a wing. The junior played high level AAU basketball during this off-season and was able to not only showcase his physical abilities but continue to improve his perimeter skills to make himself a multi-level threat. 2026-27 will be a key year for him as he ascends into a leading role with the Olympians.

Thompson spent last season with the JV squad at Sunset so he was not only hidden from mainstream eyes. But this spring and summer he immediately caught looks with his physical attributes as he's got a strong and athetic frame at 6-foot-6. His offensive game is still developing but he runs the floor well and is a willing rebounder and defender. Now at Centennial, he should figure into the rotation of a very deep and state championship contending team.

The highest-ranked small school - and one the only at the 1A level - player on the list is Lee, who really racked up some big-time numbers as a sophomore at North Clackamas Christian. A talented shooter and scorer, he showed that much of his skills translate at a higher level as he was effective playing club basketball with G.R.I.T. as he not only scored the basketball but showed playmaking skills as well. He held his own against big school competition at elite camps and the recent Spotlight Invitational and as NCC moves up to 2A he projects as one of the top players in that classification in 2026-27.

Programs such as Jesuit are continually successful because they maintain plenty of talent in their JV and freshman squads and Alleman is great evidence of that fact. The 6-foot-1 combo guard is a tremendous athlete who can knock down shots from the perimeter and like most all players who come from the Crusaders program, is well-coached and plays solid team basketball. In June ball, he was one of those players who after a good game had everyone asking - who is that? Alleman enters the ranking at this current position but it would be absolutely no surprise to anyone to see him rise as he gets varsity experience.

A similar situation to Jesuit can be said at Central Catholic in terms of depth of talent and Songolo cut his teeth at the JV level last season. The 6-foot combo guard will be playing varsity this season having moved to Roosevelt and he's certainly made an impression this off-season with his crafty dribble-drive moves and ability to get buckets. He figures to be one of the impact newcomers in the PIL with a young up-and-coming Roughriders squad.
