One of the best things about the Prep Hoops Expo making its way to Utah is finding new names and seeing their game on display. Here is a handful of new names that emerged this past weekend at the PH Utah Expo.

Bailey is a new player who has made his way to Utah via Idaho. Bailey was a standout guard at Preston High School, and this coming season he will suit up for Ridgeline. What I liked most about Bailey's game this weekend was his willingness to take control. He was telling players where to go, and he was directing traffic and he was just a positive player out there on the floor and it helped his 3v3 teams win games and he was a big reason why his team played well in 5v5. Bailey brings speed and poise to the floor. He is going to be able to do the same at the high school level.

Brant might have the biggest upside over everyone in the gym this past weekend. He is a raw 6;9 C who was playing against mainly juniors and seniors who brought a different type of physicality. Brant is likely going to attend American Fork High School, and that high school has produced more Division I big men than any other school in the state. While Brant might have to wait his turn at the varsity level there, he could really develop more strength and footwork inside. He could end up being a 7-footer.

Fox might be 6'1 or taller now, and he was showcasing some skill that we did not see last year. Fox is going to be a player who is on the floor more often than not, and he brings the speed. Fox was getting out early, and he was filling lanes. With that ability to run the floor the right way, he was getting to easy conversion opportunities. Fox is a Swiss Army Knife of a player when it comes to offense and defense. That is what he brought to the table this past weekend: the ability to do a little bit of everything.

McBride brought a smooth lefty jumper that he was able to showcase beyond the arc and in the midrange. McBride was also crafty getting to the rim, as he displayed multiple finishes. With consistent play, McBride did a good job of finishing inside and hitting his open shots.

Thompson is a good CG who can step out and hit buckets with ease as a catch-and-shoot shooter. Really liked his length defending the ball and how he was able to play help defense as well. This kid could be a sleeper in the class.

Pleasant Grove seems to be loaded with talent at every age group. Stockwell was a pleasant surprise as his play was very well rounded and he had a mature skill set. Stockwell had to defend a few bigger players inside, and his wingspan and great timing allowed him to contest shots and block shots as well. The way he was able to transition from end to end was also impressive. This young player could be a wing that PG could use in the future or even now if he can crack the rotation.

Lawson was a new name that emerged. The high-academic kid plays for Granger. Good size and speed for a PG, and he defends well. With some more strength training under his belt, he is going to be a tough layer that can push you off your line defensively, and offensively he will be able to initiate contact and win position. Lawson had a good showing this weekend that allowed him to mix in some scoring, and it also gave him a chance to create for others.
