PH Utah Expo: The Recognition They Deserve

We had a great group of players show up this year once again. Here is a group of players who had great showings.

Bosone had a good showing at the Prep Hoops Utah Expo. The main thing that was noticeable about Jakson's game was his quickness, the burst he had on offense in his first step, and his ability to use that same burst on defense. In the open floor, there was some wiggle to his game, and his ability to shake defenders and create space was nice. He should be able to get to the rim a lot this coming season from what we saw, and you can expect his numbers to increase, especially his assists.

Shen was among one of the younger players out at the Expo and he has some solid fundamentals that he was able to tap into trying to defend and score on some of those more seasoned players. In time, he is going to get quicker and be able to make decisions faster. Shen could be a good young player who develops well at Skyline. Shen was keeping things simple with the way he was defending and moving without the basketball. A lot to look forward to with Shen and his development.

Jordan was one of those intriguing players who showed up at the Utah Expo. Calhoun brings size to the floor, and he does provide a presence out on the floor. He likes to play on the perimeter, and he has a good-looking shot. At times, he was able to mix in some inside and outside play. If he could find consistency in using his inside presence and some of that outside game, he is going to find success in both. He had some good moments where he was just bigger and stronger than anyone on the floor. Keep an eye on him.

Peterson is a smooth, fluid player with some creativity. Peterson defends well and creates offense from his defense. The most important aspect of his game was that he was the loudest player on the floor, communicating with his teammates, and that was not just on offense and defense; he was doing it when he was not in. High-quality player. Solid overall game from Peterson.

I have been able to watch Oveson play a little this summer, and he is a good young talent. He was one of the grittiest players in the gym. He has an impressive motor. If you just watched him play, you would not be able to tell that he was from one of those smaller rural schools. Oveson is a good athlete, and he could keep up with anyone in any classification. He has good positional size as a CG. You can also see how he is a do-it-all player for his high school team. He is a player with next-level talent.

Kramer made his way from Idaho to take on some of these Utah kids, and after watching him play last season, he has a lot of upside. He has been tabbed as one of the top players in Idaho in his class. He brings good vision and a good handle to the floor. He should have a solid year for Mountain View this coming season. Look for his team to go above .500 this coming season, and he should be averaging double digits.
