We wanted to give you a look at the top players in each region. No better way to do that with our Preseason All-Area Teams! Today we look at Southern Illinois!

PG – [player_tooltip player_id='2962335' first='Phillip' last='Jones'] (East St. Louis)

Jones is the top lead guard in the metro east this season. The Flyers lead guard is super quick and twitchy with the rock in his hands being able to win off the bounce and play above the rim! Has a quality pull up shot out to three along with his electric downhill takes as he has some of the best body control in the state.

SG – [player_tooltip player_id='2458187' first='J'dyn' last='Lloyd'] (Belleville West)

Lloyd is the #1 prospect in southern Illinois. The Missouri State commit had a dominant month of June with the Maroons where he elevated his stock as a power wing that can play bully ball getting to the rim along with a much improved jumper. His consistency from game to game, event to event was what stood out the most.

SF – [player_tooltip player_id='2540188' first='Ryan' last='Howard'] (Alton)

Howard is a three and D wing from Alton who will go from the Robin role to Batman for the Redbirds with the graduation of Semaj Stampley. Soft touch around the hoop with legit size is a junior breakout prospect!

Bench – [player_tooltip player_id='2963262' first='Gavin' last='Rahm'] (Trenton Wesclin)

The SIU-Edwardsville commit is a skilled scoring guard that has been an under the radar name to many across the state over the last couple years, but after a strong junior campaign we are expecting a big season from Rahm.

Bench – [player_tooltip player_id='3576059' first='Emurion' last='Jackson'] (East St. Louis)

Jackson is the only sophomore on the squad. Top 3 sophomore first jumped on the map in Champaign at the state finals then was bursting with upside all spring and summer. Explosive combo guard with size, length, basketball IQ, elite athleticism, and the ability to impact the game on both ends.

Bench – [player_tooltip player_id='2837283' first='Terriyon' last='Webster'] (East St. Louis)

Webster took a huge step forward as the Flyers wing found the consistency we had been looking for out of the bouncy wing. Legit three level scorer that has elevated his game with an improved jumper.

Bench – [player_tooltip player_id='2751256' first='Archie' last='Goewey'] (Centralia)

Goewey is a high level QB on the gridiron, but also one of the best hoopers in the 618! Skilled and athletic small forward with plus positional size. Can really knock down shots from the perimeter and brings a physicality to the game from his wing spot.

Bench – [player_tooltip player_id='2826261' first='Kenny' last='Bratton'] (Centralia)

The other dual sport Orphans star is a long and rangy wing that greatly improved his perimeter shooting last year becoming a knock down threat throughout the second half of the season. High level defender and electric athlete in transition.

Bench – [player_tooltip player_id='2832405' first='JJ' last='Gwaltney'] (Herrin)

Gwaltney brings strength on the wing and a lights out shooting profile! The southpaw is among the better pure catch and shoot guys in the state with a clean and easy stroke. Solid rebounder and secondary playmaker.

Bench – [player_tooltip player_id='2383402' first='Jagger' last='Mayville'] (Waltonville)

Mayville is among the better players in small school hoops in southern Illinois. What we like about this lefty four man is his versatility as an inside/outside threat. Can knock down shots while also being crafty around the hoop, rebounding, and protecting the rim.
