With the summer travel basketball season coming to a close and high school hoops right around the corner, the evaluation period is far from over. Welcome to camp season. This is the time of year when prospects continue competing, sharpening their games, and most importantly, putting themselves directly in front of college coaching staffs.
Elite camps like the University of Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Elite Camp provide a different type of opportunity. Established prospects have a chance to strengthen their recruiting stock, while lesser-known players can walk into the gym and leave with coaches remembering their names. There are no guarantees in recruiting, but sometimes all it takes is one strong performance, one competitive matchup, or one coach seeing something he likes for a player's recruitment to change.
From athleticism and shot making to toughness, defensive versatility, basketball IQ, and simply competing harder than everyone else, several prospects caught my attention throughout the camp. While batting through the morning skill development drills, the Madison Prep guard exploded in the 1v1 drill — scoring from all three levels but especially showcasing his athleticism by dunking right over a defender that had the gym buzzing. That swagger carried over into 5v5 games, where Spenkuch scored at will. Aiden displayed a mature shot-making ability for a rising prospect. It was a eye opening performance, prompting the ULL coaching staff to pull the trigger on his very first Division I scholarship offer. The Ragin Cajuns truly welcomed [player_tooltip player_id='3736226' first='Aiden' last='Spenkuch'] to Lafayette.

At the Ragin Cajuns Elite Camp TJ brought his A-game, showing why he is one of the top 2029 guards in the state of Louisiana. During the morning skills and drills session Beaulieu was crisp, attentive, and assertive. Once the 5vs5 portion of the camp started TJ was able to showcase all of his talent. Beaulieu ran the team being very vocal on defense and was distributing the ball to the open man as a pure point guard should. His high IQ, tough defense, and unselfishness truly showed which impressed the Ragin Cajuns coaching staff so much that they offer TJ a D-1; scholarship.

[player_tooltip player_id='2837180' first='Grayson' last='Celestine'] at the Ragin Cajuns Elite Camp showed he can shoot the 3-ball effectively as well as attack the basket and finish through contact. Celestine played good defense, bodying up smaller guards and moving his feet well enough to stay in front of the smaller quicker guards. Celestine is surely a division 1 prospect who should be watched this upcoming Texas Highschool season.

Some prospects treat college camps like a casual open gym, but Robert walked into the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns Elite Camp looking to make a statement from the opening whistle, the energy in the gym shifted whenever he stepped onto the court. Wright showcased his skills during the high-tempo skill development drills designed to test decision-making under fatigue before transitioning into full-court 5-on-5 scrimmages.
During the drill station session, his tight handle and elite footwork were evident, but the 5-on-5 games were where he truly set himself apart. Wright is a lethal, three-level scorer who plays with a mean streak on offense. He was aggressively hunting his shot—knocking down the long ball, getting good elevation on mid-range shots, and getting downhill aggressively to the rim. What really stood out excited to me as evaluator, is that his offensive tenacity doesn't compromise his defensive intensity. He picked up full-court with disregard, tight defense, and he consistently crashed the boards over larger frontcourt players. Wright has developed over the past few years as one of the state's most consistent perimeter players combined with an unselfish drive to win every rep, makes him a high-major prospect with a bright college basketball future ahead.

Blake Jr is coming off a Highschool season where he helped his team win the state championship, Garnered all district, all state, and All-American honors. Very impressive Accolades for this young hooper, but at the Ragin Cajuns Elite Camp he showed why he is so highly touted. During the morning skills & drills training Blake was attentive, absorbing all the knowledge the coaching staff was passing on. When the transition came to 5vs5, he was ready to ball. Blake knocked down open and/or contested jumpers routinely. He also attacked the bucket with a vengeance, putting the defense on notice. His defense was adequate for such a young player competing in this environment. With that being said, Corey's performance at the camp got him rewarded with a D-1 Scholarship offer from the Ragin Cajuns.
