They Put Everyone on Notice at Sophomore ID Camp

The Prep Hoops Sophomore ID Camp brought together a talented group of young prospects looking to compete, showcase their skill sets, and make an early impression. Several prospects separated themselves through their production, competitiveness, and consistency throughout the day, while others offered intriguing tools and upside worth tracking moving forward. Here are some of the sophomores who made the strongest impressions at the Prep Hoops ID Camp. He played with keen understanding of how to screen, seal, and secure passes before drop stepping, turning over his shoulder, or fading away for the jumper. He knows how to establish deep position, use his body to carve out space, and present a clean target for the entry pass. Once he catches it, he has multiple counter moves ready as he showed the ability to drop-step and attack the rim, turn over either shoulder into a soft finish, or knockdown a controlled fadeaway jumper. He proved to be a fundamentally sound interior scorer who understands that the work starts before the catch, making him difficult to guard one-on-one, while his ability to play off either shoulder gave him answers regardless of how the defense chose to defend him.     [player_tooltip player_id='2791578' first='Jabralyn' last='Jackson']'s feel for the game on both sides of the ball really set him apart and made him a major game changer who anticipated dribbles, passes, and shots well enough to get back taps, deflection, and force turnovers in ways that don't always show on the stat sheet. Jackson showed the ability to play at a higher pace than most, often seeing the game develop quickly leading to quick shot selections and decision making the moment he catches the ball and garners some space. He also ran the floor in transition with a purpose, always looking to get ahead of the ball to create an advantage. This prospect really went off and made a name for himself as he took on challenges, never backed down, rose to the occasion, competing with a true dog mentality that made him a flat-out problem the defense had to deal with every possession.     Big body, strong, defined build, with broad shoulders built to take, absorb, and dish out contact, making him an aggressive, physical, and purposeful downhill attacker who's comfortable getting his shoulder into the defender, using his strength and body control to get all the way to the rim once he turns the corner where he was a dangerous above the rim finisher in traffic with a veracious dunking ability. On the defensive end, Paddack displayed a tremendous motor, and a constant presence around the ball as he competed on every possession, rotated early, contested at the rim, and made plays in passing lanes without completely selling out of position.     [player_tooltip player_id='3736103' first='Aidan' last='Mitchell'] had everything going his way, emerging as the deciding factor and biggest gamechanger on both ends of the floor. Mitchell played with sheer determination and a noticeable will to win, consistently making winning plays when the game demanded it most. His ability to stay low to the ground gives him excellent leverage attacking the rim, allowing him to turn the corner by getting into defenders' hips and sliding off bodies through traffic in the paint. Possesses a blur of a first step that immediately puts defenders on their heels, while his sharp stop-and-start arsenal and sudden changes of pace make him an ankle-breaking threat in space. Once he got defenders leaning, his ability to stop, explode and change direction allowed him to consistently create separation and get to the rack.     Explosive, high-level athletic wing standing out as a major downhill threat who attacks the lane with reckless intention, getting to the rim by elevating through traffic, using his length, power, and vertical pop to finish above the rim. His straight-line explosiveness in transition or against closeouts were dangerous, immediately putting pressure on the paint. Defensively, his athletic features translate into a disruptive presence with the ability to fly around the floor, switch across positions, recover from mistakes, make stops at the rim, and turn defense into instant offense, especially when he can get out in transition and attack a retreating defense.
