As Austin has shown this summer, creating deflections is something that's quickly becoming a staple for him. He's really good at baiting the opposition when he's one pass away and has good timing with his anticipation. Almost anytime he gets a hand on one, he deflect it towards the open floor to give him or someone else on his team a chance to pick it up and score in transition. It may seem simple, but so many players overthink or try to get cute with how they deflect passes, so it was good to see Austin's awareness in this sense. He's most effective attacking his man in space where he can use his quick first step. When he gets downhill into the paint, he's good at using long strides to step through any defenders who step up to try and double during his drive. Austin will be another talented underclassman for Maret this season who grows his game with meaningful experience.

The thing that stood out most to me with Hall was his pace. He's effective at creating space for his jumper or blowing by his man in space as he really explodes out of his crossovers to cover enough ground to make it tough to defend without using hands. If he's unable to gain an advantage getting downhill, he's good at initiating just enough contact with his left shoulder to set up his step back, which leads to a quick trigger. He wasn't a tunnel vision driver despite getting by his defender pretty consistently and seemed very aware of teammates in the corners or along the baseline in the dunker's spot that he could set up with passes on target.

Nicholas' efficiency overall was nice to see throughout the 4-hour event. That doesn't just mean he scored it at a high clip. It means he used his dribble for profit, made plays that generated points for himself or others and competed on the defensive end. He can hit the three from the wings and the corners with volume, especially off the catch with his feet set. When he led the break, he maneuvered by defenders with in-and-out crosses going right from left while inviting contact on his way to the rim. Nicholas didn't hesitate to make the extra pass, consistently moved without the ball and made multiple efforts on the defensive glass to help close out possessions.

Enjoyed watching Eyasu in this environment because he played with a sense of freedom and confidence when it came to creating his own offense. He showed an obvious improvement with his burst to take advantage of driving lanes and is no stranger to not only initiating contact, but finishing through it. Eyasu brings an edge as a competitor and got into some heated matchups throughout 5v5, but it only demanded others to match his level. He's going to play a key role on a Boys' Latin squad that has a chance to shake things up in the MIAA if the cohesion comes to fruition.

Hurt came into this event as one of the younger prospects in attendance, but gained a valuable experience in competing against upperclassmen in spurts to prepare him for the high school level. Headed to Bishop Ireton, Hurt's best path to earning a role on one of the teams at Ireton will be to prove himself as a competent point guard who makes the simple play while maintaining ball security at all times. Defending from the point of attack will be critical as well. He showed to do a little of both throughout his showing here and will be someone we check back with as the winter progresses.

May was voted to First Team and I'm confident in saying while some of the senior guards in attendance may have had a slight upper hand talent wise, there wasn't a prospect that commanded the floor like he did. Elite communication setting up his group in a half court setting, quarterbacking in transition as he set up others with great shots and a tenacious defensive effort. I didn't see a player hit the floor more for 50/50s than May.

I've described all the intangibles that he brought to the table but make no mistake, he can put his defender in a blender in isolation situations. His lightning quick first step allowed him to live at the rim while demanding respect from his defender by giving him a step or two. In these scenarios, May would let it go from beyond the arc with good results.

All in all, one of the most productive days from any prospect in attendance, in my opinion.

Goings' day was cut a bit short after suffering a nagging hand injury, but he did enough in the 3v3 portion to catch my attention as an off-ball guard who can catch it on the wing and make things happen. He's quick to rip-through and gets to his spot off 1-to-2 dribbles with good balance and balance before rising up and converting pull-ups. He made his defender pay for too much room on the catch or in lackluster closeouts from range. On drives, he's able to finish against taller defenders with his length, as he has good touch with either hand. I noticed an improved touch with his floater. Goings isn't a guy who is going to play above the rim, which makes having a dependable floater extremely important when he tests the trees in the paint.
