Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase - Emerging New Names to Know

There are many great days across the busy Indiana High School Basketball schedule. However, few compare to our annual Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase and Prep Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. On Sunday, September 6th at the Noblesville Boys & Girls Club we hosted nearly 250 of the best underclassmen in the state. Over the next couple of weeks we will be posting individual evaluations of every prospect in attendance, highlighting top performers, introducing new names, and much more. Here are some of the emerging new names that caught our attention during the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase.   ***As you can imagine, with nearly 250 prospects, we are bound to miss someone. On Sunday at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase [player_tooltip player_id='3589299' first='Maddox' last='Adkinson'] established himself as one of the prospects from Carmel we will be following in the Class of 2030. He was absolutely one of the best catch-and-shoot threats at the event. Adkinson had great footwork and a quick release on the perimeter while knocking in three-point shots consistently in 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 play. The 5'10" guard will definitely be a name to remember and one to track in this freshman class.     One of the most intriguing prospects at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase in terms of raw athleticism and physical tools was this 6'3" wing from Evansville Memorial High School. We had a lot of young talent in the gym from the Pocket City area. Hawkins stood out as a right hand driver, slasher, and consistent crasher on the offensive glass. He understands how to use his athleticism and length to his advantage on both ends of the floor. There is a lot of upside to work with and Hawkins already possesses some of the raw tools necessary to be a player at the next level. We look forward to tracking him over the coming years down at Evansville Memorial.     Keller was one of the biggest eye-catchers at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. Early on in 5-on-5 play he had one of the highlights of the entire event as he went coast-to-coast, completed a same-hand between-the-legs dribble, and finished through contact at the rim. The 6'2" forward had many more impressive plays on Sunday showcasing his skill level and interior strength as a finisher. It wouldn't be shocking at all to see him making an impact at Andrean High School sooner rather than later. Keller is a good player with a high motor and sound footwork around the basket.     As is the case with most prospects, the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase was the first opportunity for us to see King play. He immediately caught our attention during 3-on-3 play by creating his own shot off of the dribble and make some tough perimeter jump shots. The 5'8" guard may be small in stature right now, but he is aggressive and fearless with the ball in his hands. King is both a shot-creator and shot-maker from the point guard position. Heading into his freshman season at Zionsville High School he has certainly jumped onto our radar as a prospect to follow in the Class of 2030.     Yet another prospect from the Evansville area, Lucas was an impressive point guard at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. The 5'8" floor general was in constant control offensively displaying his ball handling skills, smooth change of pace with the ball, and impressive passing ability. He made several great passes both in transition and in half court while also proving his ability to score as well. Lucas is a sneaky athletic lead guard that made plays for his team throughout the event. He is definitely one to track in the freshman class at Castle High School.     It seems like Meyer has kept popping up on our radar recently. He played well at a couple of recent camps that Prep Hoops Indiana attended and shined once again at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. The 6'1" guard has a strong, athletic build and shoots the ball very well from the perimeter. We've seen him get hot from three-point range, but he can also put the ball on the deck and attack closeouts while utilizing his strength to finish at the end of his drives. Meyer will definitely be one to follow in the Class of 2030 at Seymour High School.     We had the opportunity to see Weiser a bit at Brebeuf Jesuit practice last week and then turned around and saw him again at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. The 5'11" guard is a great ball handler, makes good decisions from a live dribble, and never seemed to get sped up on Sunday. He drove it hard in both directions and played off of two feet consistently which is always good to see in a young prospect. There is a lot of talent in the backcourt right now at Brebuef, but look for Weiser to step into a role in the coming years and make a big impact for them. He definitely has stood out to us in a couple of recent viewings.
