This year was no different! We caught some of the best prospects in the 618 and break them down here! In this examination of the event PHI dives into the 2028 prospects from the event along with one prospect from 2029 and another from 2030!

[player_tooltip player_id='2832367' first='Makhi' last='House'] (Marion – 2028)

First time seeing House since midway through his sophomore season. He has grown and continues to get better. Was one of the better players in the gym from start to finish on Monday. The explosive and smooth athleticism really jumped off the floor to us. He played with confidence, taking it to the rim over and over for spinning conversions, dunks, and a creative layup package. Knocked in an array of fadeaways and mid-range shots during the session. Length played on the defensive end starting several fast breaks.

[player_tooltip player_id='2832417' first='Sincere' last='Curry'] (Marion – 2028)

Curry and House are going to be quite a tandem for Marion. Very athletic small forward who has the length to be a monster on the defensive end and that is exactly what he was. Loved how high-energy he was on that end blocking shots including several jumpers, moving his feet, and just being a complete disrupter on that end of the floor. Offensively plays off his athleticism running the floor, cutting, and flashes some slashing. Upside prospect here!

[player_tooltip player_id='2766519' first='Ryder' last='Wettig'] (Trico – 2028)

Big and physical 6'4” small forward that knows how to use his physical gifts to his advantage. Pounds smaller defenders off the dribble getting to the cup for finishes. Way more than just a bully ball player as Wettig showcased plus shooting from three pulling up and off the catch knocking down an array of threes. Plays with good pace and feel on the wing.

[player_tooltip player_id='2832355' first='DJ' last='Hayes'] (Sparta – 2028)

Hayes is a lefty PG that is also playing football now and he brought the energy on both ends of the floor. Was fantastic defensively all night defending other lead guards along with some wings taller than him. Really competes getting steals and multiple blocks. Cat quick type guard with slick handles getting past defenders for scores in the paint. Also is a solid shooter knocking in spot up threes, pull up triples, along with stop and pop mid-range shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='2832359' first='Harper' last='Lustenberger'] (Carterville – 2028)

Lustenberger is a lead guard with quality positional size to see over the defense. Time in and time out he makes the right decision. Always sees one step ahead of the defense with his passing and he showcased that in this setting. Rebounds very well for a guard, more than capable three point shooter, and has a nose for the ball on the defensive end. Keeps getting better every time we see him.

[player_tooltip player_id='2832377' first='Max' last='Lustenberger'] (Carterville – 2028)

Lustenberger is a savvy point guard from Carterville that is a primary ball handler who makes outstanding decisions as a passer. Good reads on the fly especially in an up and down style. Cuts off the ball well for buckets and is a solid shooter. Great leadership intangibles.

[player_tooltip player_id='2948252' first='Braden' last='Obszanski'] (Breese Central – 2028)

The 6'6” four man from Breese Central is an intriguing face up four man that can space with his perimeter shot. Knocked down jumpers from both the baseline and three. Looked solid in the drills and we liked how he competed in some of the defensive stuff early in the session. I am looking forward to seeing how he develops this season heading into the spring.

[player_tooltip player_id='2832712' first='William' last='Lehman'] (Carbondale – 2028)

Lehman is such a quality utility guy. Strong frame and does a little bit of everything. Capable spot up shooter, can push it in the open floor finding teammates for dimes, spinning layups off the dribble, and competes defensively contesting shots. Type of kid you want on your team!

Cam Steinwagner (New Athens – 2028)

The New Athens 6'2” shooting guard is a thick bodied wing that brings a ton of toughness and intangibles to the table. Like him as a connective glue guy that can sneak in on the glass, hit an open jumper, and get after it on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2871705' first='Brayden' last='Watson'] (Mascoutah – 2029)

Was great to see the Mascoutah small forward in the building. Quick twitched athlete that explodes around the rim. Trending as a combo forward that can play inside/out. Did his most damage playing off his physical gifts around the cup while showing some handles and a spinning turnaround in the mid-post area. Has the tools to be a good defender with refinement.

[player_tooltip player_id='2952689' first='Tyler' last='Barger'] (Massac County – 2030)

Barger was the only incoming freshman at the event. The 6'0” Masaac County point guard can really shoot the ball from the perimeter. Pretty strong for his age and didn't back down from the pressure of taller and older guards. Crafty with the ball, but the shot making from deep is what stands out early in the process.
