MSHTV Camp: 7th Grade Superlatives (Defenders)

Westfield, IN — The 11th annual MSHTV Camp featured talented young prospects from across the country, giving our staff an opportunity to evaluate players across multiple age groups throughout the 2026 camp. Our Class of 2032 and seventh-grade coverage continues with a look at some of the top defenders from the group. These prospects consistently impacted possessions with their ability to pressure the ball, stay in front of their assignments and create problems for opposing offenses. Some excelled as aggressive and tenacious on-ball defenders, while others used their length, instincts and versatility to force turnovers, generate deflections and provide help away from the ball. Here is a closer look at some of the top defenders from the Class of 2032 at the MSHTV Camp...    Rony Alexander Aranega was an aggressive and tenacious on-ball defender at the MSHTV Camp. He played with quick feet and good lateral movement, sitting down in his stance and staying attached to opposing guards as they tried to create off the dribble. Aranega handled changes of direction well and rarely gave ball-handlers an easy path into the paint. His ability to move with quicker guards allowed him to consistently apply pressure at the point of attack. He competed on every possession and made opposing guards work for clean scoring opportunities.     Cavalli Goldthreate brought toughness and energy to the defensive end at the MSHTV Camp. He took pride in guarding the ball, consistently getting into opposing guards and making them work to initiate offense. Goldthreate played with a competitive edge, fought through actions and stayed engaged throughout possessions rather than giving up after the initial move. There was a real toughness to the way he approached individual matchups, combining effort with the quickness needed to stay in front. His mentality and activity made him a difficult guard to play against.     Elijah Mathieu gave opposing guards very little room to operate at the MSHTV Camp. He defended with discipline, staying balanced in his stance and doing a good job of keeping ball-handlers in front rather than gambling for steals. Mathieu remained patient against changes of pace and direction, forcing guards into difficult possessions and contested opportunities. His attention to detail at the point of attack was a major strength, as he consistently made it difficult for his matchup to find comfortable driving lanes. Mathieu's approach and consistency made him one of the more intriguing perimeter defenders in the group.     Dylan Rader's defensive IQ was a major strength at the MSHTV Camp. He understood how to position himself against opposing guards, cut off driving angles and stay disciplined without picking up unnecessary fouls. Rader rarely put himself in bad spots defensively, instead relying on his positioning and anticipation to slow down ball-handlers. He stayed patient throughout possessions and forced opponents to work for quality looks. His ability to defend effectively without gambling or fouling made him a consistent presence on that end of the floor.     Caedyn Walker created problems for opposing guards with his activity on defense at the MSHTV Camp. He consistently slowed down the ball at the point of attack, applying pressure and disrupting the rhythm of opposing offenses. Walker stayed active with his hands, challenged ball-handlers and forced guards to adjust where they wanted to go on the floor. His defensive effort helped create rushed decisions and uncomfortable possessions. Walker's ability to disrupt opposing guards gave his team a strong presence on the perimeter.
