Midwest Fall League: Week 2 Standouts

The Midwest Fall League continued at the Queen City SportsPlex on Sunday morning and I caught all the action.

Back to back weeks where Harris impressed me with his on ball scoring ability and ball handling shiftiness, this week he earns an article spotlight from his play. Harris wants to get busy with the ball in his hands and put up a lot of tough buckets inside of 15 feet on Sunday as he found his most success attacking off the dribble. Harris is a crafty finisher at the rim as he puts impressive spin on the basketball with his layup finishes. Through two weeks in the Midwest Fall League I'm not sure how many higher scorers there have been in the league so far. Summit Country Day has had a lot of talented pieces the last few years but Harris could be a sneaky piece this season as they look to return to the state tournament for a third consecutive season.

Cornell was a prospect who came to the Prep Hoops Sophomore ID camp and continued to show the skills that impressed me at our camp. Cornell really shot it well from the perimeter and also was unselfish in passing the ball up the court and helping his team share the basketball and get good looks. Cornell will be a player to watch this season in the Dayton area.

Quintela was one of two CHCA rising freshman to stand out in the Midwest Fall League on Sunday morning, showing some bright flashes for the future of the program. Quintela had a nice middle drive and score and also made a couple jumpers along the baseline for buckets. CHCA has one of my favorite offensive systems to watch in southwest Ohio and Quintela could be a nice piece as an upperclassmen in the program.

The last standout mentioned from this week, Hicks has a high release on his jump-shot and made some nice spin moves with the ball in his hands to free up space. There's a lot of prospects from the Mason program playing in the fall league as Mason is the biggest school by enrollment in the OHSAA and spots are competitive throughout the program. Hoping to see more guys from the Comets program stand out as the Midwest Fall League continues throughout the next few Sunday morning's.
