Arizona Freshman Expo: My Top 20 Standouts V2

The Arizona Freshman Expo gave me a good opportunity to get an early look at a number of prospects from the 2030 class. There was plenty of talent in the gym, with players standing out in different ways through their production, skill set, physical tools and overall impact on the floor. After watching each game and evaluating the talent, here are my Top 20 standouts from the Prep Hoops Arizona Freshman Expo.    Versatile frontcourt player who showed a well-rounded skill set throughout the event. Handled the ball well on the perimeter, rebounded and pushed in transition, and made good reads as a passer. Ran the floor well and was active getting to the rim in transition. Was also effective when he got touches inside, showing good footwork and a nice scoring package with drop steps, hook shots and dunks around the rim. Showed a lot of skill for his size with the ability to play both on the perimeter and inside.       Runs the court well and does a good job rim running, consistently putting himself in position to finish around the basket. Has good hands, catches well on the move and finishes in transition without needing much time to gather. Showed some touch away from the basket with the ability to knock down shots from the mid-range. His combination of length and size gives him a good presence around the rim, and he moves well for his frame on both ends of the floor.     Created well off the dribble and showed a strong mid-range game, using his handle to get to his spots and knock down pull-up jumpers. Comfortable with the ball in his hands and showed the ability to rebound and immediately push in the open floor. Very bouncy athlete with good elevation around the basket, allowing him to finish over defenders and play above the rim. His combination of handle, shot creation, rebounding and athleticism gave him multiple ways to impact possessions.     Shot it well from three off the catch and was comfortable walking into threes when defenders gave him space. Attacked closeouts well and got to the rim, showing the strength to absorb contact and still finish around the basket. Defensively, moved his feet well laterally, stayed connected to his man and showed the ability to contain off the dribble.     Scrappy defender who competed on that end and made things difficult for opposing guards. Really stood out as a passer, threading passes through tight windows and showing great court vision. Did a good job seeing the floor and finding teammates when passing lanes opened up. Handled the ball well and played with good pace, staying under control with the ball in his hands and keeping his head up as plays developed. His handle, vision and passing allowed him to create and move the ball effectively throughout the event.
