Our 2027 rankings update saw 25 players make their debut and in this article we'll take a look at five of those prospects who were added to the list.

Lakota West has a new look team with Joshua Tyson leaving for a Prep school and [player_tooltip player_id='2842421' first='Roman' last='Combs'] preparing to play power conference college football. Mamutse played a major role this summer for the Firebirds as his defensive impact and toughness certainly stood out. If I'm a regional small college program I'm taking a strong look at Mamutse because of his willingness to defend top players on the opposing team, ability to play in transition and make an open shot. While most people don't know this name now, he could become a guy everybody knows by the time March rolls around.

The one Division III commit so far in Ohio, Newell is headed to nearby Mount Union after this season. Newell is one of the top shooters in the federal league and North Canton Hoover are always one of the top teams I see in Ohio during the month of June. Newell should fight for minutes early in his college career due to his combination of shooting and toughness plus experience playing within a complex offensive system. Look for North Canton Hoover to contend for conference and regional titles this season with Newell as a key piece of the team.

Nienaber was a utility piece for McNicholas last season as he finished fourth on the team in points per game, tied for fourth in assists and tied for second in steals per game. His ability to impact the game outside of the box score was why he was able to contribute for Ohio Champion on the UA Rise circuit this summer and earned him a spot in our rankings. In college almost every player has to accept a smaller role than they played at the high school level and Nienaber seems like a player who will be comfortable impacting the game without having the ball in his hands the entire game.

Alliance had a tremendous season last year thanks to star Jr Jackson and a junior duo of Woods and [player_tooltip player_id='3586645' first='Samuel' last='Hays']. Each of those prospects have been in our Prep Hoops rankings and Woods has the shooting ability from the wing to play off the ball at the college level. Woods had a breakout season for the Aviators after transferring over from Marlington and also contributed for Alliance on the diamond in the spring. Woods should be targeted by regional small college programs and with powerhouse Division III program Mount Union in his hometown, he could be college teammates with [player_tooltip player_id='3661720' first='Connor' last='Newell'], who was featured earlier in this article.

O'Daniel had a big showing at Midwest live with Centennial but ended up at Worthington Kilbourne to try and help them compete in the OCC. O'Daniel should play a major role for Worthington Kilbourne this season. O'Daniel should provide impact due to his rebounding, ability to defend multiple positions and could be able to showcase more of his offensive talent with the ball in his hands more often than at previous stops. While I'm excited to see what O'Daniel can show offensively, he'll be most effective if he's able to continue providing defensive and rebounding impact on top of an increased scoring role.
