SWBC Scouting Notes: Top Shooters V1

The SWBC featured plenty of talented shot-makers, but a select group separated themselves with their range, efficiency, and ability to convert from multiple spots on the floor. From catch-and-shoot threats to players who created their own looks off the dribble, these were the top shooters I evaluated throughout the event. A legitimate perimeter threat who can knock down threes off the catch or dribble. He shoots without hesitation and has a clean, repeatable release. He also uses his size and length to attack closeouts, get into the paint, and finish over defenders. He has walk-in-the-gym range and is comfortable letting it fly from well beyond the three-point line. He can also get to his pull-up in the midrange, giving him another scoring option when defenders run him off the line. He sees the floor well and delivers accurate passes that hit cutters in stride. He remains active away from the ball, relocating along the perimeter and moving into open space to create scoring opportunities. He brings a good level of shot-making ability with parking-lot range and a quick, compact release from both three and the midrange. He can score off the catch or create his own shot off the dribble, giving him versatility as a perimeter scorer. When defenders take away his perimeter shot, he can attack closeouts and get to high-arcing layups or soft floaters in the lane. He will make quick decisions with the ball and deliver accurate hit-ahead passes in transition. He established himself as one of the premier shooters at the event, displaying elite shot-making ability and legitimate range that extends well beyond the three-point line. He is equally dangerous off the catch or off the dribble, using a controlled handle, subtle changes of pace, and creative footwork to produce clean looks from deep. His release is quick, compact, and hesitation-free, making any amount of space difficult for defenders to recover from. Beyond the shooting, he plays with patience, reads the floor well, and makes smart decisions without forcing the action. A gifted three-point shooter who may be the best catch-and-shoot threat in the AIA. His quick release, shot preparation, and natural shooting instincts allow him to capitalize on even the smallest window of space. There is no hesitation when the ball reaches his hands, making him an extremely difficult cover anywhere beyond the arc.
