Spencer’s Standouts-SWBC Part 1

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I attended Gregg Rosenberg's SWBC on 8/17 and 8/18 at the Phhacility. Throughout the event, I watched every team play at least once. Many great players on all teams showcased their talents. Here were some of the players who caught my eye:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2466738' first='Dewey' last='Henry'] <strong>Elite Sports Academy:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>He has a phenomenal camp, earning him a top-24 selection. Dewey used a burst of speed to beat defenders and got to his spots efficiently. When he pulled up for a midrange jumper, he had elite elevation on the shot. Along with his pure midrange, he was scoring from behind the arc as well. He will be a huge piece for ESA as they compete in Power 32.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3669947' first='Jordan' last='Weeks'] <strong>Elite Sports Academy:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jordan dominated in his area, earning him a top-24 selection. Jordan has extremely soft hands for his size; he uses that to catch difficult passes out of the pick-and-roll. This gives him plenty of easy looks around the rim. Jordan rebounds well in his area, snatching up boards. He has a good passing touch, so he looks to push the ball in transition once he grabs the board. Jordan will be a crucial part of this ESA team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3588606' first='Makoi' last='Makoi'] <strong>Elite Sports Academy:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The long big man continued to show his improved game. He runs the floor hard in transition, which converts to a lot of easy dunks for him. Makoi has started to space the floor more with an improved 3-point jumper. Defensively, he uses his long wingspan to guard smaller guards on the perimeter while also battling down low with the bigs. He'll keep improving as the year goes on; expect a big season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2435268' first='Christian' last='Mcfadgon'] <strong>Elite Sports Academy:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The taller shooting guard showed flashes at the SWBC. Christian has a quick burst of speed that lets him get by defenders and reach the rim with ease. He has crafty finishes around the rim and uses a variety of touches. He can hit the catch-and-shoot three-ball, which he gets a lot of open opportunities for. He will continue to improve as the season goes on at ESA.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2292816' first='Luke' last='Galvanoni'] <strong>Mesquite:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Luke played well all throughout the camp, earning him a top-48. He showed off his improved athleticism, converting drop-step dunks and transition dunks. He uses his midrange pull-up well and goes to it pretty often when he puts the ball on the deck. Luke hits the three ball proficiently, whether catch-and-shoot or off the dribble. He will be a massive piece of Mesquite's success this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2812746' first='Cash' last='Hill'] <strong>AZ Lutheran:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>He was one of the best shooters in the event. Cash has the ultimate green light and wasn't afraid to use it. He has a quick trigger and makes it difficult for defenders to close out on him. He gets off the line and attacks the basket hard, finishing through contact. Cash will have another huge year at AZ Lutheran</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
