Preseason Class 5A All State Team

The best of the best returning from Class 5A entering the season! Here are the names!   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">First Team</h2>    Dalian is the lone returning First Team All State player from last year's 5A First Team (the rest graduated). Led his team in scoring, rebounding and assists on their way to second in state finish. Currently rehabbing a knee injury, tough to know where things will be when the season starts but Blaise is the top returning player in 5A.     The 6'5, 185 pound Jones was a second team all state player last year and first team all league. The explosive wing had a really good 16u season with [program_tooltip program_id='2213682' first='KC' last='Red Storm'] and is now a preseason first team all state talent entering his junior year. Also one of the elite high jumpers in the state.     A second team all state player, Kaeden led the Mustangs scoring about 17 points per game during a 14-8 season Nienke was named the AVCTL Division II Co-MVP and earned first team Team All-AVCTL Division 2 honors. The 6'3 guard that can play several spots attacked the lane aggressively all 16u season for SBA.     Ross scored nearly 18 points a game last season with shooting splits of 45/30/74 while carrying a big load for his team. Third team all state last year and second team all conference as a 6'4 wing. Led his team to state before a loss in the quarters.     Jalen earned 1st Team AVCTL-1 All-League honors as a junior averaging a 5A best 6.1 assists per game for Maize South. Batiste has great size at 6'4 for a lead guard plus he scored 15 points with 4.3 rebounds a game as well last season. All around production, should contend for Class Player of the year.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Second Team</h2>    A name you've been hearing a lot around here lately because of his leadership, decision making, and consistency, Stephens was all league and third team all state last year, and we think he is ready to have a big senior season.     A 6'5 combo forward that put up 15.2 points and 7.2 rebounds a game last year shooting 60 percent from the field and earning first team all league honors as well as third team all state honors. Face up touch is starting to look good too hitting 75 percent of foul shots and over 30 percent of his threes.     Browne made headlines scoring the ball for the Spurs in EYCL play this 16u season which should push him into the winter season in a big way. The now listed 6'5, 200 pound wing forward was third team all conference as a sophomore.     As a junior, Bruce averaged nearly 13 points, five boards, 2.5 assists and two steals a game with strong shooting splits of 44/37/76. The 37 percent at the arc shooting at 6'4 really turned then helped SSA Elite Black as Bruce shot a high percentage for his 17u team too.     A 6'4 shooter that really took his game to a higher level this 17u season with the Spurs, Ogden is getting a nice amount of college looks this summer because of that touch. He had weekends where he shot the ball at the arc from 45 percent to 60 percent!    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Third Team</h2>    A 6'5, 220 pound frontocurt player that put up 14.3 points and over seven rebounds a game as a junior. Was named the Centennial League Newcomer of the Year and helped his team to 17 wins as a junior.     The Purple Dragon speedy lead guard earned First Team All-SEK (Southeast Kansas) honors last year and looks to help his team take a big step from last year's 10-win season.     A strong, two sport standout for the Salthawks in both football and basketball. Lamar is now a 6'3, 175 pound backcourt player that had some breakout games last year nearing 30 points. Potential is there for a big senior year.     Trelc had a standout 17u season that lead to an offer from Baker just yesterday joining offers from Bethany and Ottawa. Trelc had a fantastic shooting summer for SSA and expectations are high moving into the winter.     A key role player last year on a 26-win team that finished second in state. The 6'1 shooting guard shot 43 percent from the arc last year and then had an excellent 17u season. Type of guy that can go from excellent role player to all state.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fourth Team</h2>    A 6'6 235 pound division one football recruit that can be impossible to move when he gets a deep touch in the paint on the basketball court. Named the MVP of the Topeka Invitational last winter.     As a sophomore Grant averaged 11 points, three assists and four boards a game shooting nearly 38 percent from the arc. A strong 185 pounds, Grant is also a good football player.     An athletic 6'3 wing that was one of only two 2028 players honored in the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail league with post-season accolades and big expectations are coming for this winter. A standout football prospect as well.     A 6'2 combo guard that had a solid season with COOZ Elite, Scott is one of the better three level scorers on this list and he will be a four year varsity player. All state honored player that scored just under ten a game as a junior.     A second team honored ball handler last year as a junior, Jaxson was a key part of the [program_tooltip program_id='2886609' first='Wichita' last='Padres'] this 17u season as well.
