PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2030 Freshman Showcase Preview

The Class of 2030 is getting set to show up on high school campuses across Oregon, and based on what we've been hearing from those familiar with this class there are some incoming freshmen who are set to make an impact - with some even at the varsity level. Many of the top future freshmen from Oregon will be competing under one roof on Sunday at the fourth-ever PrepHoops Oregon Freshman Showcase, being held once again at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA.

We recently assembled a watchlist of some of the names we've gathered from various sources and many of those players will be attendance. Many of these players have been playing AAU basketball at the highest level for a number of years and we were able to watch some of them compete in the month of June with their upcoming high school teams. While any kind of ranking won't be done until after the schowcase, one player who has really caught our attention is Ray Peterson Ray Peterson 6'1" | PG Jefferson-Portland | 2030 OR (Jr.). Already known as "Big Baby", the talented guard is physically gifted for his age and already posseses next-level court vision and passing skills - enough to the point where he's already nationally ranked by some outlets. Others who come in with well-known reputations include Nelson's Patrick Sideris Jr, Benson's Rizual Plumb-Barcellano, Gresham's Tyrus Saepharn Tyrus Saepharn 6'0" | CG Gresham | 2030 OR , and Sherwood's Avery Borchardt Avery Borchardt 6'0" | CG Sherwood | 2030 OR .

The talent isn't just from the Portland Metro area either. A contingent coming from Central Oregon is led by Redmond's Bo Downs, a lanky wing who already stands 6-foot-5 and may still be growing. North Salem's Elijah Barnett Elijah Barnett 6'5" | SF/SG North Salem | 2030 OR and McNary's William Waldrop William Waldrop 6'0" | SG McNary | 2030 OR will be arriving via I-5 from Salem and there are even players who will be coming up from even further south in Southern Oregon from the Medford and Klamath Falls areas. A handful of top players from across the Columbia River in Vancouver will even join in as well.

The showcase will take place from 10 am to 2 pm and spectators are free to attend. College coaches will be in attendance and games will also be streamed on BallerTV.
