With the summer over it's time to look ahead to the season, and we thought it would be fun to predict (subjectively of course) who would be the top players in different areas of the state. With that being said, here's a look at part three of my prediction for the top 25 players in the Hampton Roads area this next season.

*Editor's note: This is a list of who I think will have the best individual seasons next year, not the best prospects. So depth of team, production rate, team success, etc are all considered.

#7) [player_tooltip player_id='2194706' first='Kevin' last='Parker'] | 6'0” PG | Denbigh '27

Parker has been the focal point of the turnaround for this Denbigh team over the last few years, as he's been a starter since he was a freshman there. A two sport star and All State selection last year, Parker is one of the most well rounded scoring guards that you'll find in the entire state. He's super quick and twitchy off the bounce with the ability to break down defenders and get to spots, he can create space and knock down shots from all over the floor, he is dynamic in transition as a scorer and playmaker, and he sets the tone with his on ball defense as well.

#6) [player_tooltip player_id='3571284' first='Sam' last='Naidyhorski'] | 6'6” PF | Norfolk Collegiate '27

Naidyhorski was one of the breakout players in the 757 last year, and coming off a big summer he recently committed to Hampden Sydney and is one of the more versatile forwards you will find in the entire state. He's a matchup nightmare with his blend of size, physicality and skillset that allows him to impact the game across the board. He's a big body with sweet feet and soft touch around the rim, he can step out and knock down shots, he can push in transition and work in isolations on face ups, and he's a very good passer for his size as well.

#5) [player_tooltip player_id='2470603' first='Nathan' last='Lessley'] | 6'6” WF | Cox '27

Lessley is one of a number of players in the running for Beach District Player of the Year, and he is one of the biggest matchup problems in the area as well. At 6'6” with long arms he's a good athlete who can play and guard multiple positions, and he's a skilled scorer who can create and make shots in a lot of different ways. He can knock it down off the catch and on the move from deep, he can put it on the deck and get to spots and use his size to shoot over defenders, he is an athletic finisher around the rim, and he has a good IQ and great instincts on both ends of the floor.

#4) [player_tooltip player_id='2470557' first='Dean' last='Williams'] | 6'4” WG | Catholic '27

Williams was perhaps the breakout player in the 757 last year, as he put up huge numbers all year for Catholic and will be the focal point for a very talented group this year. The 6'4” wing is a walking bucket who can fill it up from all over the floor, and he's one of those players that can get hot and make tough shots look easy. He's a driller from deep with good range and a quick release, he is dynamic in transition with his length and athleticism as a finisher, he can get to spots off the bounce with good footwork to get into his pull-up, and he does a good job drawing contact and getting to the line too.

#3) [player_tooltip player_id='2470583' first='Trey' last='Barnhart'] | 6'2” CG | Kellam '27

Barnhart has been one of the top guards in the Beach District since he was a freshman, and coming off a big summer with [program_tooltip program_id='2226248' first='Boo' last='Williams'] he is perhaps the favorite to win Beach District Player of the Year. The 6'2” combo guard is a do-it-all guard who can takeover games while also making his teammates better, and he brings a ton of toughness as well. He is highly skilled and fundamental with the ability to get to spots without wasted dribbles, he's a true three level scorer both off the bounce and off the ball, he has seen a big jump in his finishing and athleticism over the past few years, and he brings a competitive chip on both ends of the floor too.

#2) [player_tooltip player_id='2194708' first='Donnell' last='Jarrett Jr.'] | 6'3” WG | Woodside '27

Jarrett has been a star for Woodside over the past two seasons, and going into his senior year there's no doubt it's his team and a team that is one of the favorites to win a state championship in Class 5. He's a super talented shot maker who can play on or off the ball, and his ability to get to spots and score it from all over is very impressive and fun to watch. He has great footwork to get into his shot off the bounce, he can work off the ball and does a good job reading screens to get open, he can knock down shots from deep and is very good attacking closeouts, and he is no slouch on the defensive end too.

#1) [player_tooltip player_id='2916383' first='Rashad' last='Shaw'] | 6'3” CG | Landstown '28

Shaw has been a starter for Landstown since he was a freshman, as he was one of the catalysts to their deep playoff run last year, and with the departure of last year's Beach District Player of the Year it's his team this year, and they're set to have another big time run as well. Shaw is one of the top athletes in the 757 if not the entire state, and his mix of strength, explosiveness and aggression he's a nightmare to matchup with. He gets downhill effortlessly and uses his strength to finish through contact, he can score the ball in a variety of ways on or off the ball, he's a good rebounder and defender who plays with a good motor, and he is one of those guys who just keeps getting better and wants to compete with the best.
