Returning for another summer, New Jersey Legacy Basketball once again put together a crop of North Jersey prospects for a team camp centered around multi day competition between programs and the opportunity for some of the state's talent to showcase their skillset. Hosted at Weequahic High School in Newark, NJ this year's New Jersey Legacy Team Camp gave us an early look at players adjusting to new programs following offseason transfers as well as those expected to step into expanded roles this winter, providing a valuable glimpse at who is poised to make an impact. With that being said, here are some of the prospects who stood out during the opening session of New Jersey Legacy's team camp earlier this week.

A natural floor general, [player_tooltip player_id='2763609' first='Jake' last='Ellis'] possesses a unique ability to control the rhythm of a game through his decision making, ball control, and overall strong command of the offense. Ellis is expected to shoulder an even larger workload offensively heading into the winter and offered extremely encouraging glimpses of what his impact is set to look like, particularly in his ability to pick apart the defense— playing with excellent feel, picking his spots and scoring when necessary as well as setting up his teammates with timely passes for quality looks. Aggressive in being an overall decisive playmaker, Ellis' versatile scoring package saw him get in the lane off the bounce and be evasive finishing in traffic from different angles around the basket while mixing in some patented stop on a dime mid range pull ups and some in rhythm perimeter shot making off the catch. Keeping his vision when getting deep in the paint, Ellis made a lot of strong reads as a distributor— locating outside shooters in the half court, rewarding well timed off ball cutters, and even throwing accurate lob passes to lane runners in transition.

Part of a potent and experienced backcourt pairing that fuels so much of the offensive success that this Bayonne group endures as a unit, [player_tooltip player_id='3648311' first='Jaylen' last='Sims'] impressed with the overall efficiency and glaring confidence he shot the basketball with. Efficient not only in his field goal percentages from different spots on the court but also in his ability to not necessarily be over zealous off the bounce, Sims' simplicity stood out— a shot diet that mostly consists of getting to his spots in the mid range area in three dribbles or less paired with deep range perimeter shooting off the catch.

Even with Plainfield basketball embarking on the start of a new era for its program, there's still things to look forward to and if the action from Legacy's Team Camp earlier this week are a sign of things, [player_tooltip player_id='3665820' first='Eli' last='Fraser'] should have a lot to do with that. Expected to assume lead guard responsibilities for this group and see a high usage rate on the ball, Fraser didn't seem to be lacking any type of confidence asserting himself and looked rather comfortable creating offense— particularly with his quick twitch ability off the bounce in creating offense for himself and scoring from different areas on the floor while at the same time being a more than willing playmaker who keeps his vision when attacking and finding his teammates in the right spots to be successful.

Filling the void of a lot of the perimeter shot making this Linden program lost to graduation from a season ago, [player_tooltip player_id='3273632' first='Mouhamed' last='Cisse'] offered an inspiring glimpse of possibly being able to step into that role when the season comes around. Cisse's always possessed the potential to be a dangerous shot maker, particularly with his soft outside touch and the arc he often shoots it with on his jumper and to early on, he found a nice rhythm from three point range and impressed with the efficient clip he shot the three ball with— hunting his shot and stepping into in rhythm catch and shoot perimeter looks and even knocking down mid range pull ups when the defense closed out on him and ran him off the line.

Reflective of both his athleticism starting to legitimately kick in and the evolving progression of his overall physical tools, [player_tooltip player_id='2833843' first='Owen' last='Wucherpfennig'] continues to be one of the biggest stock risers of the spring and summer and his performance earlier this week once again proved that junction, particularly being a highly impactful interior presence and consistently affecting the game through his activity— finishing with both power and touch, creating extra possessions with his work on the offensive glass, anchoring the paint with rim protection and strong rebounding on the defensive end of the floor, rim running in transition, and even flashing his ability to be effective with his back to the basket and using his low post game.
