High Academic Showcase: 2027 High IQ and Newcomers

The 2026 NORCAL Academic Showcase was held in San Francisco, CA at Saint Ignatius College Prep High School. With a mix of a high GPA and basketball skills NorCal is loaded with High Academic Prospects who can play DII, DIII, NAIA. PH NorCal was in the gym for this event here are the newcomers.      4.3 GPA Smith-Kenney led his high school team in scoring last season 16.4pt, 4a. He works mostly off ball. At this event he looked to assert himself with ball in hand, good drives from different angles including baseline, and short corner jumpers. He had few drive and dish assists. He hustled up court for transition layups.     3.51 GPA Known more for putting up shots from behind the 3-point line. He spent Sunday his only day in camp showing he could do more than shoot. He had good passing around the perimeter, found open shooters in the corners. He sees the court, can handle, and pass it up in transition. He had a couple strong drives to the basket.     4.79 GPA He's an improved ball handler, had a couple of strong drives using the body to finish with the left. He set solid screens to free up teammates, made hard cuts to the basket. He positioned himself on defense, worked to stay on ball, hustled up court in transition.     4.8 GPA He's a ball mover, sets screens, and cuts after passing. He showed ball fakes before driving to the basket. He's got a solid body showed he could bump and bang inside with bigger players, had good effort going for rebounds, and running the court.     3.8 GPA, He played a good all around game, makes good passes, has good movement without the ball. He has decent handles, and footspeed to generate a bucket off the drive from different angle. He plays within the flow, doesn't force shots, dropped a couple of open 3-pointers. He was good in transition looking for layups or making the extra pass.     4.34 GPA, It was our first look at Burgess, it's too early to call him a shooter, we'll have to see more. He was a threat to make 3-pointers when he had the ball in hand. His shot looks more like a set shot 3, but make no mistake there's a good chance it's going in. He sets up around the perimeter, if open it's going up. He can drop one with long range from the wings. He didn't take bad shots, got a growing body, he hustles up court. He's got some work to do in other areas, not shooting.     4.0 GPA, He's a solid body player, can play both guard positions, and wing at this level. He's strong with good handles, goes hard and strong when the opportunity presents itself, in transition, or along the perimeter. He showed good court speed filling lane. He can get hot shooting 3's, he dropped a couple from the corners. He gives good effort on the defensive side of the ball, help rebound, can go with.     4.02 GPA, It was our first look at Overstreet who plays for a charter school in Oakland. He's a solid body, has strength and quality handles to create, and take on defenders. He handles contact, can pull up off the dribble for the mid-range, he showed range dropping 3's in transition, and along the perimeter. He had a good two days. He'll go on the Watch List.
