Freshman Showcase: Starting 5

Over the past five months, we have had the opportunity to evaluate dozens of prospects in Florida's 2030 class as the state's freshman class continues to take shape. Several prospects added to their early recruiting resume on Sunday at Seminole Sports Academy during the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase. Here's a closer look at five freshmen who impressed with their performances.    Joy is a productive, hard playing combo forward with an intriguing combination of size, skill and versatility. He is an effective finisher around the basket with either hand and has impressive footwork in the paint for a young prospect. Joy handles and passes the ball well for his size, while also showing the ability to step away from the basket and knock down open jump shots. There is plenty of upside for this South Florida prospect.     Fagan is an impressive scoring guard with high level quickness, good length, and the ability to be a three level scorer. He can knock down shots from beyond the arc, create offense off the dribble, and use his quickness to get downhill and into the paint. Fagan is also a creative finisher in the lane including impressive floaters over length and size. Expect Fagan to be featured in our initial 2030 rankings in the coming weeks.     The freshman from Southwest Florida is a skilled, versatile forward with positional size and length. Stohl can stretch the floor with his ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc and plays with a high basketball IQ. He is active on the glass, using his length to keep possessions alive and impact rebounding on both ends of the floor. As he continues to add strength and develop physically, expect Stohl to become an increasingly productive player against older competition. There is plenty of upside for this 2030 prospect.     Brown is a quick, attacking lead guard with excellent command of the basketball and impressive playmaking instincts. He consistently gets into the paint, where he is an effective finisher and has the vision to find open teammates. Brown is excellent in transition, using his speed and ball handling ability topressure on the defense and create scoring opportunities for himself and others.     One of the top pure shooters in the gym on Sunday, Fernandez impressed with his deep range, excellent shot preparation and quick release. The Lake Highland Prep freshman has a good feel for the game, understands how to find open space and is a capable passer who sees the floor well. He also possesses better than average foot speed, giving him the ability to impact the game beyond his shooting ability. Fernandez is a prospect to watch in the 2030 class and should continue to develop within one of the state's premier high school programs.
