Class 5A All State Players – How did their summer go?

We reflect on the best players from Class 5A from last year and what they did this summer in 17u and 16u play.    Did not get a chance to see the highly honored player this summer but it's a good time to remind everybody that Blaise was first team all city, first team All 5A State, and third team all state overall in Kansas. Led his team in scoring at 15 a game, rebounding at five a game and assists at 3.5 a contest. A 6'5, 200 pound highly productive forward.     A 6'5, 185 pound state champion wing that played with the [program_tooltip program_id='2213682' first='KC' last='Red Storm'] at 16u.   The state runner up in the high jump uses that same athletic ability to explode to the rim in highlight finishing fashions. There is more to Jones than just the highlight reel finishes you are seeing but those finishes also say a lot to his the Jones potential. He can finish above his man directly and over the help in other situations, Jones has the ability to board over anybody and that includes a lot of bigs, and his defensive potential moving off ball screens and in helps situations is high level.     The 6'2 second team all state guard had a fantastic summer playing with SBA.   Nienke went at defenses all summer starting with the 21 point, 12 board game he totaled against All Missouri Attack and then near 20 points games against Minnesota Lace Up and SSA Elite in close game wins.   An aggressive and strong guard that should be one of the better upperclassmen in Class 5A this winter.     The 6'4/6'5 all state third teamer from Basehor-Lindwood averaged 15 points and seven boards a contest last winter.   Brown compete with 816 Hoops Shamet this spring and summer and earned an offer from Concordia University in Nebraska. An all around player that helps his team on defense, scoring in different areas, rebounding, moving the ball and moving off the ball.     Didn't see much of Ross in 17u play anywhere but Ross was a third team all state player last season that averaged 17.7 points a game shooting 45 percent from the field and 73 percent from the foul line as a junior. Also grabbed four rebounds a game for a Heights team that went 17-9.     Stephens was a key decision maker and steady producer for PAC this season.   Stephens played in a way that you can see him being a player that both scores (he scored 19 points a game last year), distributes, and is a vocal leader as well. When I started writing about Kansas players one of the first guys mentioned to me was Stephens. The senior-to-be is glorified for the balance in his life with academic work, production on the court getting his own numbers, but leading the team in a high level way. USM has offered.       Jalen is the final player we needed to mention. Was honorable mention all state last year but has had a really big spring and summer with PAC.   The 6'5 200 pound guard moved at the rim to score, he shot the ball well scoring for his team, and was just an all around producer that should take a big step into his senior season.   Batiste averaged 15 points, six rebounds and four assists a game as a junior with the versatile contributions.
