Class 2A: Top 10 Returning Steals

1.) 2027 Casey Hanson (Southeast Valley) -- 90 steals   One of three Jaguars on this list, Hanson led the team in steals, averaging just under four thefts per game. A quick 5-9 guard with great hands, he puts constant pressure on opposing guards with his lateral quickness and willingness to pick them up full-court.   2.) 2027 Carson Roeder (Red Oak) -- 86   Roeder is a 6-0 guard who complements standout forward [player_tooltip player_id='2379147' first='Reese' last='Montgomery'] really well on both ends of the floor. He's quick, intelligent, and moves his feet really well on the defensive end.   t3.) 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='3343951' first='Oscar' last='Cline'] (Louisa-Muscatine) -- 78   The Falcons struggled last season, but it's hard to understate just how good Cline was on both ends of the floor. He has found himself on nearly all of these top 10 returnee lists, a testament to his two-way impact. He's a fantastic athlete with a penchant for jumping passing lanes and turning defense into offense.   t3.) 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2419757' first='Bryer' last='Putman'] (Wilton) -- 78   Like Cline, Putman has found himself on a majority of these top 10 lists. One of the most talented players in 2A, he pairs a great, physical, athletic frame with a high IQ and a ton of raw talent to impact the game in a major way on both ends of the floor.   5.) 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2906470' first='Colton' last='Lindsay'] (West Central Valley) -- 77   A 5-7 lead guard with blazing speed, Lindsay puts constant pressure on opposing guards on both ends of the floor. He really makes his opposition work hard just to bring the ball up against him and initiate offense.   6.) 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2523918' first='Preston' last='Davison'] (Garner-Hayfield-Ventura) -- 68   Davison was the only Cardinal to average in double digits as a scorer last season, putting up 13.5 points per game. His 2.7 steals a night certainly helped contribute at least a few of those points on a nightly basis.   7.) 2027 Logan Jaeschke (Southeast Valley) -- 67   The second Jaguar on this top 10 returnee list, Jaeschke is a 6-0 forward who may be a bit undersized as a traditional big but his quick hands and feet allow him to make a major impact on the defensive end on a nightly basis.   8.) 2027 Bryce Harrison (Southeast Valley) -- 65   The Jaguars averaged just under 19 steals per game last season, with the 6-0 Harrison coming away with 2.8 a night. He's an instinctual defender with a knack for jumping passing lanes.   9.) 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2420805' first='Dylan' last='Schon'] (Kuemper Catholic) -- 64   Schon is one of the smartest players in the class, always in the right place and knowing when to take a gamble to jump the passing lane and when he needs to just stay disciplined and stay at home. he has quick hands and in addition to being an impactful defender, he's also one of the most dynamic offensive players in the class, averaging 13.7 points and 3.0 assists on 58.5% shooting.   t10.) 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='3650649' first='Karson' last='Welander'] (Pocahontas Area) -- 61   A 5-10 guard who led the Indians in scoring at 16.7 points a night, Welander certainly uses his penchant for snatching steals to help contribute to his lofty point total on a nightly basis, using his speed to turn defense into offense.   t10.) 2028 Jamison Rothmeyer (Central Springs) -- 61   A 6-0 wing, Rothmeyer showed a knack for being in the right spot as a sophomore, averaging nearly three steals per game to lead the Panthers. In addition to his work in taking the ball away, he also averaged more than a block per game, showing the ability to protect the rim as well.
