Montgomery is arguably the best rebounder in the state, averaging 13.3 boards a game as a junior for the Tigers in addition to scoring 19.7 points a contest. A bouncy 6-5 combo forward who can elevate above just about any defender at this level, he has great hands and a real nose for the ball.

Montgomery was dominant as a sophomore for the Tigers, averaging 15.5 points and 13.1 rebounds per game. He’s a high-level rebounder with a great second jump, and he’s tenacious on the glass on both ends of the floor, pulling down 5.5 offensive boards a game last season. After his performance at our Expo earlier this month, routinely knocking down shots off the catch from the arc, showing some real improvement as a shooter, he’s due for a pretty substantial jump up the 2027 rankings when they are updated at the winter break.

Like Villagomez, Montgomery was a surprising inclusion on this list, going 10-40 (25%) from the 3-point line as a sophomore. He looked confident in his stroke throughout the afternoon, keeping the ball high on his jumper, which when paired with his 6-6 frame, makes it really difficult to contest. He moves well without the ball in his hands, has a quick release off the catch, and handles it pretty well for a young wing with his size. He attacked overly aggressive closeouts and got to the rim off the dribble, was really good on the glass on both ends, and has the length to defend multiple spots. If my First Team All-Expo article had been expanded to six players, Montgomery would’ve been the sixth. He was really good.

A long, lanky wing with a high release on his jumper, Montgomery can play with or without the ball in his hands on the offensive end. He handles it pretty well for a young wing with his size, getting his center of gravity low and keeping his handle tight while protecting the ball. The high release on his jumper, paired with his above-average size, makes it difficult for opposing players to contest his shot.
