Given the amount of announcements we are seeing over the course of the last few weeks, I've decided to move forward with this series as a 'notebook' and will update accordingly as more moves could be completed before classes officially begin. The weekend lended us more transfer news to digest and below are some names to watch in their new uniforms this winter.

For the first part of this series that went live last Thursday, click here!

International blend of talent

Mount Carmel made three moves official as head coach Tony Martin dials into his European connections to land a trio of overseas names to this year's roster. First is 2027 Eugen Tatunciac, a 6'8" transfer from Sunrise Academy but originally from Ukraine. Tatunciac played for KC Run GMC on the UAA Circuit and brings size and skill that should translate to Martin's system fairly seamlessly. The second prospect is 2027 Richard Lehota out of Slovakia. Lehota stands 6'7" and brings another floor-spacing threat to the rotation as well as some feel playing without the ball and finding his shots within the flow. The last is 2028 Tomass Latisevs out of Latvia. A 5'10" point guard brings good pace, a solid frame and know-how when it comes to setting the table for others.

Springdale continues its overseas pipeline as they announced the addition of Onction Joie Goba, also referred to as Goba Joe. A 2029 6'9" forward originally from the republic of Congo, he spent last season at Victory Rock Prep (FL) and makes the move up north to Springdale bringing an intriguing blend of length, size and springy athleticism around the rim on both ends.

Now, like many overseas prospects who make the move to the States, adjusting to the speed and physicality can be viewed as a 'sink or swim' type of situation. Over the years we've seen more success stories with players in this realm than we did 10-15 years ago with basketball becoming more of a global sport. These are all names of guys who should have a chance to carve out meaningful roles for their respectvie programs, but we'll monitor and judge their readiness as we get eyes on them this fall.

Archbishop Carroll lands two impact 2028s

Head coach Malcolm Battle has proven himself as a guy who can squeeze every bit of potential out of his players, but it takes toughness both mentally and physically to gain his trust. He's an intense teacher of the game, but instills winning tendencies in his guys by putting them in positions to show what they do best while working on the developmental aspect during the unseen hours.

The first name that was announced this weekend was 2028 wing Kaleb Clark. The rugged, physical 6'5" wing has the makeup to come in and embrace the environment that Battle has built and should respond well to his demanding expectations. Clark put his name on the map last season at KIPP Legacy (DC) with his versatility for his size and his ability to impact the game on or off the ball. Battle's frontcourt is comprised of a slew of 6'5"-6'7" wings/forwards who can score from multiple positions, pose as switchable options on the defensive end and are no strangers to putting their hardhats on and doing the dirty work inside. Clark fits that mold and brings more on-ball ability than a few guys within the expected rotation at his position.

The other impact player heading to Carroll is 2028 Ellis Johnson. A smooth, sharpshooting southpaw combo guard, Johnson put together big performances last year for Calvert Hall in the BCL/MIAA and since then has grown both physically and within the skill of his game. Johnson will be able to complement 2027 Bam Bolding well in the backcourt thanks to his ability to space the floor as a catch-and-shoot guy and attack closeouts as well as step in and take on on-ball duties for stretches of games. Playing with Team Takeover on the E16 circuit this summer and dating back to his productive sophomore campaign at Calvert Hall, Johnson should be well-equipped to make a splash for the Lions right away.

St. John's (DC) adds underrated senior piece to the puzzle

2027 TJ Jones will head south to St. John's (DC) after spending his first three years of high school at Severn in the MIAA B Conference. Jones remains under the radar, but is one of the more fiery competitors in the area and it's clear when you watch his relentless motor on both ends of the court. He's another Swiss Army knife type of player who is low maintenance offensively as he provides timely cuts, second efforts on the glass and can't be disregarded from the corners beyond the arc. Defensively he can guard three different positions and as he does on the offensive end, puts together a lot of winning possessions with his willingness as a multiple effort type of guy.

The move to St. John's will be a step up in competition and he'll have to earn his time, but being a big piece for New World this spring/summer should've helped prepare him for the stage that the Cadets are set to embark on both in and out of conference.
