We recently updated our 2029 class rankings, and in my 10 years of working for Prep Hoops VA this one is looking like it could be very special. With 75 players ranked currently, we take a look at part two of the prospects in the Southern, Central and Western areas.

#38) Kam Waller | 5'10” PG | VES

Waller had a good freshman season at VES but was behind some very good guards, however he's had a very good summer and is showing that he'll be one to keep an eye on moving forward in his career. While he isn't the biggest guard he is quick and shifty with great vision when he gets in the lane, he can drill it from deep with range well past the college line, he can sit down and guard the ball, and he really knows how to run the show and control the game as well.

#41) Andrew Maslaney | 6'1” PG | Western Albemarle

Maslaney played a solid role as a freshman for Western last year, and with their top three options leaving due to graduation or transferring, he will have a chance to be one of the top guards in Charlottesville this year. He's a really good athlete who can run in transition and finish at or above the rim when he gets downhill, he uses his length and athleticism defensively to get deflections and challenge shots, he can knock down open shots off the catch, and he brings a gritty toughness to his team as the lead guard.

#44) Asher Mattison | 6'2” SG | John Handley

Mattison was a big part of Handley's run to the state championship last year, as he was one of four All District performers and had his moments where he showed he can flat out light it up. The 6'2” wing has picture perfect form on his jumper from the feet up, he moves well off the ball and can set his feet quickly to make shots on the move, he has deep range and a quick release to get his shot off, and he has great instincts on both ends of the floor.

#53) Jonah Clark | 5'11” PG | STAB

While Clark didn't see a ton of time as a freshman, he's had a good summer so far and is the type of guard that will have a lot of success for this group moving forward. He's a quick and shifty guard who is very good in ball screens, he can knock down open shots when he moves off the ball, he's a pesky on ball defender who can pick up full court, and he is a crafty finisher in the middle area and at the rim.

#57) Stephen Afful | 6'3” PF | Mountain View

Afful was impressive as a freshman for Mountain View, as he carved out a role for himself and was productive in his minutes that just continued to increase throughout the season. The 6'3” forward is a bruiser in the paint who is physical on both ends of the floor, he rebounds very well in and out of his area, he can step out and knock down shots, and he does all the little things that help his team win.

#60) Kris Woods | 6'0” CG | Miller School

Woods transferred to Miller School and reclassified to the 2029 class after a standout start to his career at Eastern Mennonite, and he's a very intriguing guard with a lot of potential as he continues to develop. The 6'0” combo is a good athlete who is shifty off the bounce and flies in transition, he can drill it from deep both off the catch and off the bounce, he is a very good finisher when he gets downhill, and he has a ton of upside on the defensive end as well.
