Underclassmen Put Themselves on the Map at The Platform

After highlighting the top shooters, junior guards, and senior stock risers from the weekend, it's time to turn the focus to a group of underclassmen who made the most of their opportunity at The Platform in Bedford Park. While they may have entered the weekend under the radar, these prospects put together strong performances and showed they're names worth following.    Wiggins brought great energy throughout I GOT NEXT's 4-0 weekend. His hustle and activity created turnovers and sped up opposing offenses, while he sprinted to loose balls to ignite transition opportunities. Defensively, he showcased his motor with chasedown blocks and other impact plays, while also providing instant offense in the open floor.     Charles impressed with the combination of his effort, energy, and composure throughout the weekend. He made his presence felt defensively with shot contests, athleticism, and rim protection, recording blocks in the paint. Offensively, he made good drive-and-kick reads, battled for offensive rebounds that led to free throws, converted a tough circus-shot and-one through the middle, and showed mid-range shot-making off the catch.     An incoming freshman playing up a level with All In 15U, Jin stood out with his hustle, fundamentals, and ability to compete against a higher class. He crashed the offensive glass for putbacks, showcased coast-to-coast finishing, and attacked the basket with confidence. He created quality shots and executed well around the basket. His ability to contribute on both ends of the rebounding battle, along with his strong foundation of skills, will be valuable as he continues to develop.     Burke impressed with his all-around presence, impacting the game through hustle plays and his ability to attack the rim. He made winning plays by saving balls from going out of bounds, creating steals that led to fastbreak opportunities, and finishing through contact. He showcased creativity with an in-and-out move into a lefty finish and a smooth lefty scoop, while also displaying a knack for cutting to the rim and finding openings behind the defense.     Playing up an age level, Gonzalez looked comfortable against older competition. A glue guy who embraced the fundamentals, he played his role well and scored effectively inside, showcasing foot and body control. He consistently boxed out, rebounded, and brought a high motor, while anticipating passes and covering plenty of ground defensively. Gonzalez was a key piece in Pure Hoops 16U's undefeated weekend.
