Superstar Events: July Jam 2026- 15u Standouts

The high school kids shined over the weekend!! Every player on this list displayed the skills that made them difference makers.     I always enjoy watching Noah play basketball. Every game I watch, his skills improve. He continues to be an excellent rebounder and post player. Noah is surprisingly quick off the dribble. Over the years, I have seen him shock opponents with his agility. Noah breaks the mold of traditional post players. In a couple of instances, he easily beat defenders into the paint when he was isolated on the wing of the court. Noah has improved his ball handling to the point where he can attack and score in various ways. When Reign Academy Blue had opportunities to score in transition, Noah ran the court and made a point to finish strong. Gaining post positions against smaller defenders led to easy scores around the basket. He's great at the intangibles such as setting screens, blocking shots and communicating with teammates. I expect Noah to have a productive Sophomore season at Lapel High School this fall.      Sean continues to be an excellent shooter. The last time I watched him play was in eighth grade. Back then, he mostly scored on jump-shots. After watching him play Saturday, I saw a play-making point guard who looked to get everyone involved offensively. He's improved his ball handling skills also. Sean easily broke down the [program_tooltip program_id='2559412' first='Marlin' last='Academy'] 15u Black defense and made plays. A majority of the assists he made led to positive outcomes for the team. As I said earlier, Sean is a shooter! He finished the game with multiple three-pointers and numerous shots from the mid-range area of the court. From what I saw on Saturday, I believe Sean is capable of playing a major role on the Marion team next season. He's capable of knocking down shots and making plays for others.     Charlie was easily the team's best shooter Saturday afternoon. As soon as he checked in the game, Charlie was instant offense off the bench. He came in and instantly knocked down two consecutive three-pointers. Whether it was teammates setting screens or Charlie taking the initiative, finding open looks on the perimeter was not an issue. He also showed the ability to make plays with accurate passing. Some of his assists were made when he had opportunities to attack the paint. He drew in defenders and dished off passes to teammates around the basket. Charlie is a skilled shooter who is a constant threat to knock down multiple threes at any given moment. He could be a valuable asset to Mount Vernon's success next season.     Devin has shown the ability to score or facilitate at a high level. Last season I watched him play against Avon High School and was thoroughly impressed by his performance. Devin handles the ball, gets around defenders, scores in the paint and knocks down shots from three-point range. In the same game he led his team in assists. The passes he made were accurate and resulted in high percentage scores for his teammates. In Saturday's AAU game, he continued to show why he's one of the best point guards in his class. He beat defenders off the dribble, attacked the basket, scored on fast-breaks and knocked down shots on the perimeter. Defensively, he gets after it by pressing opposing ball handlers into turnovers. He finished the game with three steals. I expect Devin to be the stabilizing force of the Mount Vernon Basketball program next season. If the team plans to win back-to-back State Championships, I believe Devin has to be that “floor general” who leads the way.     Caige is an excellent two-way player who is capable of putting up big offensive numbers. He is what I call, “ instant offense.” As soon as the game began, he made an immediate impact offensively. I immediately noticed his skills as a great all around player. Caige showed the ability to score from all areas of the court. He attacked opposing defenders off the dribble, took advantage of smaller opponents in the paint and knocked down shots from mid or long range. There was a moment in the game where he made three consecutive shots. One was a three-pointer, another was a dribble drive to the basket, while the last was a nice pull-up jump-shot. Caige showed his prowess as a great rebounder. He often attacked the offensive glass and made plays around the basket. On defense, he pressured the opposition with quick hands that forced them into mistakes. Caige is a skilled player who is capable of being a major factor in the success of Waldron basketball next season.     A tough, hard-nosed player who looked to get everyone involved. Hunter was one of the fiercest players on the court. He was great at attacking the basket and scoring on floaters down the lane. When the team had opportunities to score transition points, Hunter always finished with a strong lay-up. He's an excellent rebounder who showed his toughness when he battled opponents in the paint. Despite being smaller than other opposing players, Hunter attacked the glass with ferociousness. He showed a nice perimeter jump-shot throughout the game. On defense, he played the pass lanes and forced a couple of turnovers. Hunter is a great team player who gives maximum effort on both sides of the ball. He could become a major contributor to the Morristown basketball program next season.      I was thoroughly impressed with Levi's performance Sunday morning. In my opinion, he's always had a confidence issue. When I watched him perform in the past, Levi played with no energy or aggression. I have been preaching this to him the last couple of seasons. Well, I can honestly say, I saw a completely different attitude in his game on Sunday. Now, Levi plays with complete confidence! He's literally improved in every category since I last watched him play. Whether it's beating defenders to the basket, scoring in the post or knocking down three-pointers, Levi has completely blossomed as a complete player. I also notice Levi becoming more of a vocal leader to his teammates. He effectively communicated on both ends of the court. On defense, he utilized his length by making ball handling difficult for the opposition. He forced numerous turnovers and had a couple of blocked shots. Now that Levi has the confidence to succeed. I believe if he continues to progress, he'll be capable of becoming one of the top player's in his class. Keep working Levi!!
