June has come and gone and with it goes arguably the most important and valuable time on the recruiting calendar for college coaches and high school prospects alike. Arizona has become a recruiting hot bed during June with events such as Section 7, but other events such as the yearly Best In Basketball Summer Invitational in Gilbert or out of state events such as Nevada Live attract the top teams and players alike.

However often overlooked is how impactful June is for underclassmen prospects who don't really pick up offers but rather get on the radar of colleges and media. Most are stepping into new roles whether it's their first year of starting or taking over as the star for their program.

Throughout the next couple of weeks, I will be releasing the top underclassmen performers I observed during the June live period.

[player_tooltip player_id='2825980' first='Brexton' last='Quinet'] - Deer Valley

One of the most prolific scorers in the state regardless of class, Quinet has taken a massive jump from the end of the season in February to now.

His hot its lethal as he makes defenses pay with a smooth shooting stroke that always seems to find a way to go down. Whether it's in the catch-and-shoot game or pulling up off the dribble, Quinet is a knockdown shooter who impacts the game with his scoring. He also shows the ability to use his tight handle and create for his teammates. He makes the smart play almost always and is gifted in that regard.

[player_tooltip player_id='3142053' first='Jesse' last='Onuh'] - Liberty

Another breakout candidate this season looks to be Onuh who has taken on a bigger role for Liberty entering his sophomore year. Onuh is an athletic wing who shows two-way upside. He's got long arms and uses that length to create turnovers and disrupt shots. For his position he rebounds well and shows the ability to score off offensive rebounds. He finishes tough layups in the lane through contact and will play a big role for Liberty this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='3226220' first='Linus' last='Turner'] - Sunnyslope

No guard in the AIA regardless of class may fit the prototype of a "3-and-D" player quite like [player_tooltip player_id='3226220' first='Linus' last='Turner'] does. The sophomore took on a much larger role for his Sunnyslope team with point guard Delton Prescott out due to injury. Turner stepped up into that point guard/combo guard role and showcased an improved shooting ability from deep knocking down big three pointers both at Nevada Live and at Section 7. The key to Turner's game however is his defensive chops, already as a sophomore he's taking on the role of guarding the opposing team's best guard and disrupting the flow of opposing teams. He's an all defensive caliber player and will be a key piece in the Vikings hopes of repeating as Open Division champions.

[player_tooltip player_id='2842403' first='Malik' last='Frazier'] - Gilbert

Making the jump up in classifications from a small school to a big school is challenging for most players. Jumping from 3A to 6A is like jumping across the ocean, but for [player_tooltip player_id='2842403' first='Malik' last='Frazier'] he relished the opportunity and looked confident in his reps for a sneaky good Gilbert team. At Section , Frazier showed a balanced play style as he picked and chose when to create for his teammates and when to attack. He has a very quick first step and gets downhill with his athleticism with ease. As a passer, he shows a high IQ and can pass his teammates into open looks or positive mismatches.

[player_tooltip player_id='2889279' first='Jace' last='Parris'] - Mesa

The youth movement is looking very special in Mesa as to pair with another talented sophomore in [player_tooltip player_id='2251690' first='Innocent' last='Onwo'], the Jackrabbits have one of the biggest players in the AIA in Parris. The 6'10" post player is one of the longest players in the state regardless of class and he uses that size and length to be the ultimate disrupter in the post. Parris is a certified shot blocker as he uses his long reach to disrupt shots if he can't get a hand on it and uses his size to box out as a prolific rebounder. He sits down low and finishes strong put backs on offensive rebound opportunities and is a strong passer out of the post as he shows upside as a creator.
