D1 Showcase Eye-Catching Perimeter Players (Bellevue College)

We still have plenty of coverage coming down the pipe from the NW June D1 Recruiting Event, and here is where we dive into some of the outstanding play that happened at Bellevue College. Let's take a look at some of the perimeter prospects catching my eye in the 2028 and 2029 classes.    Cogan already has the physical makeup of a high-level prospect. He's long at 6-foot-5, is solidly built, and has the athleticism to match what the eye tells you. But what really impressed me with his game were his instincts across the board. Whether it was following shots in transition for tip-ins, getting his hands up defensively to deflect passes, or making timely cuts into he middle to score efficiently, he was making his presence felt all over the court. Also delivered some great passes from different spots, and showcased his versatility defensively guarding both mature post players and quick perimeter players.     Brown is still pretty early in his development but the soon-to-be sophomore has shown the potential to be an inside and out type of player who can work with his back to the hoop and operate with some touch, while mixing in perimeter attacks. He sunk a few perimeter shots, contributed on the glass, but the couple moments that stuck in my mind were two faked handoffs on the perimeter where he turned middle and rose up to dunk with some authority. He missed both dunks off the back iron but it showed a little more athleticism and aggression than I had previously seen him play with.     Was pretty excited at the prospect of finally seeing Fraas in person after watching some of his games from this past season. He had some good matchups too, playing against Lincoln, Bainbridge, Shorewood, and Lake City. At 6-foot-7, he has some pretty unique ability to score from different spots, and while his 3-point shot wasn't falling when I stopped by, he made the adjustments to work out of other areas, attack the paint, and work to those spots both with and without the ball. I've been really impressed with his footwork around the paint, mainly when he decides to post up or back his man down and work into his short-to-mid-range jumper. He posted 21 points against Bainbridge in a two-point loss.     After winning a state title last season, Lake City will be looking to repeat this coming winter and Irgens could be a big piece of that title defense. He has good size at 6-foot-5, can rebound, defend, knock down shots, and plays strong in traffic. He had a game-high 32 points in a close loss to Cole Valley Christian, showcasing that ability to get his feet set and hit catch-and-shoot threes (5-of-8 3PT), play quick and balanced in the middle, and contribute in other areas (nine rebounds, five assists).     Have been very impressed with Marlow's play this spring and summer, and while a lot of it is his jump in skill and progress over some more technical aspects of his game, it always comes back to how hard he plays. He's a borderline 6-foot-2, but he gets off at least one or two dunks every time I watch him play. He showed that while he can knock down the outside shots at a higher rate than a year ago, he's going to try and get to the hoop and deliver some punishment to anyone in his way. He had one sequence where he blocked a shot off the backboard and then ran the floor, got the ball, and earned a foul by the rim. The play is never over for him and it shows each time he goes out there. He had 29 points against Cole Valley, and 26 points against Grant.     Bristol has been a kid looking ready to break out of his shell this spring and summer. He was on and off the floor last winter at O'Dea before making the midseason transfer to Edmonds-Woodway and sitting out the rest of the year. But once the spring season got going, so did Bristol. He continued that tough play at the D1 Showcase, leading the Warriors in scoring in three of their games with 26 points versus Mercer Island, 21 points versus Royal, and 22 points versus Chiawana. He'll be a big part of initiating their offense and closing out possessions on the glass next winter.     Sanders is an aggressive, long, athletic wing, who was ready to display his quick-hitting momentum stealing play style. He had some big blitzes up top on screens to force turnovers, anticipating passes up along the perimeter that led to more quick turnovers and buckets, and was flying high to finish at the rim. And while he was able to have an impact with those quick, impact plays, he also did a great job boxing out bigger players and finishing out defensive possessions.
