The Tune Up Illinois edition took place over the 4th of July weekend. PHI had coverage from top to bottom in all divisions through the quick two day event. Here we will take a deeper analysis into a half of dozen prospects from the class of 2029 who showed valued on both sides of the floor.

McKenzie presents challenges in multiple phases of the game due to his stature and athletic fluidity on both sides of the ball. He creates mismatches for defenses to keep out of the paint or while slashing to the hoop. In the afternoon game on Friday, McKenzie made a back door cut behind the defense for a bucket and also took a rebound coast to coast for a score. He continued to show more to his game with a catch and shoot 3 and also consistently drew fouls while getting to the hoop. His ability to provide toughness, versatility and a motor with size will deem him a valuable asset as a possible 3 or 4 swingman.

Caught Bezik a couple of times last AAU season but this was my first time seeing him live since then. Over his scholastic season he provided valuable minutes as a true freshman on varsity. He has also helped lead his team to a successful travel season campaign during circuit play thus far in 2026. His handle ability is fundamentally solid which helps drive positive offensive flow for himself and others around. In the evening game on Thursday, he showed his slashing skills to the cup while also getting others involved off dribble drive action. He plays with a solid big and they work off of each other well throughout. He was also playing up an age level as a 2029 in the 2028 division through the weekend and helped lead the Woodstock Elite team to a 4-0 mark.

I caught the 2029 Bell play in his team's afternoon game on Friday. The combo guard from Marian possesses a matured strong frame with a controlled and disciplined handle. Bell consistently gets downhill to create quality scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. He showed finishing ability at the rim with an acrobatic and one off the glass and while enduring contact while penetrating to get to the stripe. Vision wise, he provides effective pitch ahead passes to get the break phase going while also utilizing a natural quick first step. His eyes are always up to see the floor do see what the defense is providing. Bell's combination of strength, body control, and competitive mentality makes him a definite watch list guard.

Obasioulu runs the floor at a plus rate while helping his team convert in transition opportunities. He received the outlet or pushed right off of his own rebound to score it multiple times at the cup going full speed. He also showed he can score it from inside and out while knocking down a pair of back to back 3's in the afternoon game on Friday while taking high percentage shots. Defensively Obasioulu glues on the ball and helps create havoc in the back court which adds more value to his team. Another young bright spot for an already talented Leo squad this upcoming season.

Harris got it done in back to back weekends. I caught him with his Lincoln Park team at Ridgewood just a few days ago and also in early June at Hoop Mountain. He is a strong physical lefty that consistently finds good shots around the basket while utilizing his build to endure contact. Harris earns trips to the line at a good rate because defenders bounce off him on his way to the cup or while making a post move. He can be utilized as a multi-positional threat. Last weekend with his scholastic team he banged down low where at this event he showed he can go into a smooth perimeter jumper and is comfortable in the mid range game as well. Rebounding wise he keeps the ball high and shows a willingness to generate second chance opportunities. He also made quality passes for pitch a heads for transition points and pushed off of defensive rebounds. Played a big part in team's crunch time victory on Friday afternoon. Overall he will add value on both sides of the ball with an energetic physical motor.

I watched Burnett and the 2029 [program_tooltip program_id='2078449' first='Meanstreets' last=''] EYCL group play in their afternoon game on Friday against BP Hoops. Burnett showed an impactful two way presence as he was utilized in the 1 or 2 guard spot for most of the game. He attacks the basket off of hesitation moves and by changing speeds. Offensively he also converted on a tough offensive put back to help team gain back momentum. Passing wise he unselfishly delivered a couple quality interior feeds to his bigs and also ran the floor well for a transition assist. Overall Burnett possesses a strong willingness and feel to impact the game beyond just scoring and will be an underclassman that could gain minutes on one of the most talented teams in the state during the 26-27 season.
