Adidas 3SSB Notebook: NC 2029s Shine Bright

It was a great week of basketball in Rock Hill for the Adidas 3SSB Palmetto Road Championships and we were there throughout for all of the action as it went down. There was a ton of talent on display with some really energetic and memorable games, including some NC guys getting championships in the 15u division with Team Loaded VA. Without further delay, let's take a look at some of the top performers in that age group!    Davis was once again very effective for [program_tooltip program_id='2227286' first='Team' last='Loaded South'] 15u and it was great to get another in-person look at the emerging lead guard out of Lake Norman Charter. Davis possesses a lot of gifts on the court with his long arms on the defensive end and ability to make high level plays on the offensive end with the ball in his hands. Davis averaged 16.0 Points, 1.8 Assists, and 1.8 Rebounds per game and was able to connect from beyond the arc consistently throughout the weekend. He's still a young guard with room for growth but the early returns on Davis show that he's a bonafide producer regardless of setting.     Cole was instrumental in the Team Loaded Virginia Championship effort throughout the weekend as he does so many things to help this team at both ends of the floor. Cole was incredibly engaged at both ends of the floor all weekend long as they finished their season with a perfect undefeated record both on 3SSB and beyond. Cole was constantly on the glass, using his athleticism to impose his will on the inside, and played with a real edge all weekend long. In the championship game vs Midwest Basketball, Cole finished with 12 Points and 7 Rebounds in the win. His production, upside, and energy were all very apparent this weekend and it was truly impressive to see him gel along these other super talented players in the process.     Burney continues to make real progress in his overall game and helped [program_tooltip program_id='2078500' first='Garner' last='Road']'s 15u team get on a bit of a run to start the weekend before falling in a close one to Southern Assault in the quarter finals. Burney is constantly flying around at both ends of the floor as he's a naturally gifted athlete with a motor to boot. Burney was also able to show potential in his ability to exploit mismatches off the bounce as he's added a couple of very reliable moves to his bag of tricks. The skill level is starting to catch up to the athleticism and it should allow Burney to really showcase his game this upcoming season at Jacksonville. He brings a unique element to this lineup and knows how to use his athletic gifts to directly translate to production for his team.     Roper's ability to help his team win important games by making timely effort plays is truly impressive. He's a unique player with his blend of strength, skill, and feel in the backcourt and will likely prove himself to be one of the most productive players in this NC 2029 class. In the championship effort, Roper's impact was felt on the glass and defensively as he found a way to help get key stops when switched on bigger guys, get his hands in the passing lanes, and get timely rebounds at either end of the floor. He can help your team in so many ways along with providing that high level of competitive fire and it just got shown to the whole basketball world with that championship effort.     [player_tooltip player_id='2941182' first='Braeden' last='Greenup'] made the switch to [program_tooltip program_id='2078500' first='Garner' last='Road'] for the last tournament of July to help them on their mission to win a 3SSB championship and he fit in like an absolute glove with this group. Greenup has some of the best touch in the "in-between" area of the floor that I've seen from a prospect at this stage in quite some time. He's a mid-post mismatch with his touch and strength on the interior. What was also awesome to see was the flashes of shot making and passing we saw from him. During our viewing in the Southern Assault game, he was able to make some brilliant plays for teammates in the open floor and show some confidence in his ability to hit from distance. How Greenup continues to develop both physically and within his skillset will be so fun to watch because the foundation he's established for himself at this stage is truly impressive and why he's near the top of a stacked 2029 class.     The young big man out of the Raleigh area continues to make real progress in his game with [program_tooltip program_id='2227286' first='Team' last='Loaded South'] 15u and it was great to get another in-person look at Okauru. The big fella is showing real progress in his mobility, instincts as a rim protector, and ability to catch the ball in traffic. Okauru will continue to be a name to watch in this state at his size as his development continues to progress in the right direction. It won't be much longer before we see him start to really produce at a high level as this year of experience playing a key role with Team Loaded was very beneficial to his development.
