As the action continued into day two of the University of South Carolina Team Camp, guard play remained one of the biggest storylines of the event. Numerous backcourt prospects showcased their ability to score, facilitate, and lead their teams against quality competition, making it difficult to ignore their performances. After another day of evaluating talent in Columbia, these were the guards who ran the show on Saturday.

One of the best players in the gym on Saturday was 2029 Point Guard [player_tooltip player_id='2957759' first='AJ' last='Cureton']. Nation Ford was impressive as a team in their win over Fort Dorchester, but Cureton was the piece that made them click all game offensively. He finished with 22 points, including 15 of them in the first half, with tons of tough buckets. AJ used a tight handle to get to the rim, where he finished with craft to navigate size, plus he was effective pulling up off the bounce in the mid-range and from three, while also mixing in some facilitation when defenses migrated towards him.

Aidan was in a new jersey this weekend, coming over to Fox Creek from Horse Creek. Walls has the athleticism and shooting ability to fit in around the other elite pieces that the Predators have, but he also has the skillset and defensive mindset to take over games. He did just that for a stretch against Summerville, turning defense into offense with several steals and a couple of highlight reel dunks. In the half-court, Aidan is a balanced playmaker who likes to play off two feet as he attacks the rim, gets to his spots in the mid-range, and sets up others.

I expect North Augusta's [player_tooltip player_id='2364856' first='Tristan' last='Anderson-Edmond'] to be one of the top scorers in the state this season. He was a winning piece for them in their State-Championship run last year, but now, as the #1 guy, it's been clear to see the talent he has. That was exactly what he showed in a matchup with Hickory Ridge (NC) on Saturday, as he ran the show with efficient three-level scoring. Tristan got going with a pair of early catch-and-shoot threes before his first-step quickness and at-rim athleticism helped him get more buckets all over the floor. Anderson-Edmond finished with 22 points on 4-5 3FG.

Even though he was one of the best players in Class 1A and one of the highest scores in the state, this was my first time seeing Rivera with Denmark-Olar. Christian didn't disappoint, either, going for 22 points and 6 assists. He is extremely fast with the ball in his hands, and although he can turn the ball over at times, the Vikings are fine with the chances he takes on the fly because of the potential reward. Rivera is as crafty as they come at the rim, but he will also hit jumpers off the bounce and set up his teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='2711227' first='De'Cori' last='Fleming'] rounds out The Guards who Ran the Show on Saturday at the South Carolina Team Camp. I've seen Fleming play a couple of times now, but this was the most I've seen him with the ball in his hands. He truly looked like a guard, displaying the passing vision and ability to set up his teammates before he hunted his own shot. De'Cori has some very intriguing physical attributes, such as positional size, length, and athleticism, but his consistent motor on both ends of the floor and efficiency with the ball in his hands is what allowed him to stand out to me in Columbia.
