Updated 2027 Rankings: 540/434/276 Forwards

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We recently updated our 2027 class rankings in Virginia, with it being one of the deepest rankings I have been apart of in my 10 years with the Prep Hoops VA site. We will take a look at some of the top players in each region of the state from a positional standpoint, with a look at the top power forwards and centers in the Western/Central/Southern area.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#6) [player_tooltip player_id='2624494' first='Ben' last='Kalonji'] | 6'7” C | Massanutten</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":2967163,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2025/09/Kalonji-Ben-Certified.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2025/09/Kalonji-Ben-Certified.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-2967163" /></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Kalonji has been coming along nicely throughout his time at Massanutten, and college coaches are starting to notice with the way he's playing on the 3SSB Circuit. While he still is far from a completed package he is super athletic around the rim as both a shot blocker and dunking the ball with authority, he's shown improvement in his touch out to the three-point line, he is a surprisingly good passer with feel, and the rate of improvement is a sign that things will only continue to get better moving forward.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#16) [player_tooltip player_id='1782681' first='Odita' last='Aguolu'] | 6'6” PF | Miller School</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":1978863,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/06/Aguolo-Odita.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/06/Aguolo-Odita.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1978863" /></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Auguolu had a great junior season helping lead Miller School to their third straight VISAA D-II state championship, and he continues to impress after a great performance at DMV Live this past weekend. The 6'6” forward has really improved his shooting which has opened up his game a lot, he is a great slasher who can use his strength and athleticism to finish in traffic, he can play and guard multiple positions, and now that he's more versatile of a scorer it makes him that much more of a mismatch threat that is tough to game plan for.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#74) [player_tooltip player_id='3651525' first='Germain' last='Green'] | 6'7” C | Fork Union</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Green will transfer and take a post grad year at Fork Union after being a standout at Norcom over the past few years, and being that he was always young for his grade another year will bold well for him and coaches should take notice. The 6'7” big man is a good athlete with a good frame that should fill out moving forward, he gets up and down the floor and plays above the rim, he has range out to the three-point line, and he moves his feet well to switch and guard multiple positions.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#79) [player_tooltip player_id='2898053' first='Shane' last='McAfee'] | 6'8” C | Saint Michael</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>McAfee had a great junior season after transferring to Saint Michael, and he's one of the more intriguing prospects you will come across in the Fredericksburg area. At 6'8” he has a strong frame and does a great job sealing defenders deep to finish, he has good hands and feet to catch and make moves in the post, he has touch out to the elbows, and he can wall up and defend the rim as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#102) [player_tooltip player_id='2085879' first='Bryce' last='Giles'] | 6'4” PF | Nelson County</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Giles has had a fantastic high school career as a three year starter and helped lead Nelson County to a state tournament appearance last year, and going into his senior season he'll be the for sure go-to guy for them. At 6'4” he may be a tad undersized but he's got a strong build and can carve out space, he is a mismatch with is ability to knock down shots and put it on the deck on the perimeter, he finishes well in traffic, and he impacts the game across the board.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#172) [player_tooltip player_id='3651538' first='Jason' last='Deal'] | 6'6” PF | Rappahannock</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Deal has had a breakout spring with Higher Level after a good junior season for Rappahannock, and is starting to see some college interest come his way as well. The 6'6” forward is a good athlete with long arms who an run the floor and play above the rim, he can stretch the floor and knock it down from deep consistently, he is an inside-out threat, and he should get better in the paint when he gets in a college weight room and gets stronger.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
