Tony's Five Standouts from the Mount Vernon Shootout

A pure scorer with a strong, physical build, Boeset is capable of filling it up from all three levels. He uses his physicality to bully his way to the rim, handles the ball extremely well, and has great footwork that he uses to either contort his way around contact at the rim or help create some extra space to get his shot off. He's a really confident shooter with unlimited range, and he can take over a game as a scorer or playmaker with his vision and passing instincts.     Tyler was dominant when I saw Beckman take on Clear Creek Amana, showcasing elite rim protection, a strong presence on the glass, and deft touch around the rim. There was a three possession stretch in the second half in which he blocked five shots, and he did so in a variety of different ways. He rotates really well and has great awareness on the defensive end. He makes strong contact on his box outs and is aggressive on the glass on both ends of the floor, and while his offensive game is still a bit of a work in progress, he has good touch around the bucket and is a strong finisher through contact. He was one of the breakout performers of the weekend for the Blazers.     One of several standouts from Iowa City West on Saturday (Eliot wrote about a pair of others already), Toz is a 6-2 wing with good size, length, and a frame that can continue to add some weight to it comfortably. He has really good body control around the rim, able to contort his body to lessen the contact and finish through it, and he showed confidence in his jumper out to about 15 feet with regularity. His length and lateral movement allow him to defend multiple positions.     Wegmann has been one of the best scorers in the 2027 class for the last few years, but it was the development of the rest of his game that stood out when we saw the Blazers play CCA. With his size, he has an advantage against most players trying to defend him in terms of height, and he used that to his advantage against the Clippers, showcasing improved vision and a willingness to set his teammates up. His body is really starting to fill out, and his added strength also allows him to bully smaller defenders around the bucket as well as compete hard on the glass on both ends of the floor.     Christiansen is an elite scorer and he showed that throughout the day on Saturday, filling it up from all three levels in each of Northeast's games. He's a highly confident scoring threat who can play with or without the ball in his hands. His frame is starting to fill out a bit, which is allowing him to finish at a higher clip around the rim, and his ability to stop on a dime and elevate into his shot is rivaled by few in the state.
