Stock Risers: New PG/CG Prospects Added to the 2028 Rankings

The spring grassroots season provided an opportunity to evaluate hundreds of prospects across the state, and several members of the Class of 2028 made significant strides in their development. Whether through improved skill sets, increased production, physical growth, or strong performances against high level competition, these players elevated their stock and earned a place in our <a href="https://prephoops.com/florida/rankings/2028-rankings/" id="https://prephoops.com/florida/rankings/2028-rankings/">Updated 2028 Rankings</a>.    Nicholson is a big, strong guard with the versatility to play either backcourt position. A confident shot maker, he can score from the perimeter while also using his size and strength to get downhill and attack the rim off the dribble. He possesses a good feel for the game, makes sound decisions with the basketball, and understands how to impact the game in a variety of ways. Nicholson also rebounds well for a perimeter player, consistently helping his team finish possessions and initiate transition opportunities. As a high academic prospect in the Class of 2028, he combines physical tools, skill, and basketball IQ to make him one of the more intriguing young guards to monitor moving forward.     Mills is a talented scoring lead guard with a blend of skill, IQ and upside. He is a capable shot maker with range beyond the three point line and possesses the quickness to create separation and generate offense off the dribble. A high IQ player, Mills understands how to read defenses, make sound decisions, and impact the game both as a scorer and facilitator. He is also a high academic prospect who brings value on and off the court. With an expanded role expected at Lake Highland Prep this summer and into next season, Mills has a tremendous opportunity to continue his development and climb the rankings as his production increases.     Sneed earned All-Area honors this season after serving as the floor general for the Seminoles. A smart, instinctive point guard, he possesses a good command of the basketball and consistently makes the right reads with the ball in his hands. Sneed is an effective passer who sees the floor well, delivers the ball on time and on target, and does an excellent job creating opportunities for teammates. He combines above average foot speed with a strong frame, allowing him to get by defenders, get downhill, and finish through contact in the paint.     Gill was a productive performer for MBJ Elite on the adidas 3SSB circuit this spring, consistently impacting the game on both ends of the floor. A quick, athletic guard, he excels at attacking off the dribble and getting into the paint, where he can finish or create opportunities for teammates. One of the more impressive aspects of his game is his ability to rebound, as he consistently tracks down boards and plays bigger than his size on the perimeter. Gill competes with a high motor, brings energy every possession, and impacts winning through his effort, toughness, and athleticism.     Another emerging Central Florida prospect, Herrera is a strong, quick, and aggressive lead guard who thrives with the ball in his hands. He is difficult for defenders to keep out of the paint, consistently using his strength, quickness, and attacking mentality to put pressure on the defense. Herrera is a capable perimeter shooter who can knock down open shots, but he is at his best creating offense off the dribble. A creative finisher around the basket, he shows good body control and touch in traffic, allowing him to score in a variety of ways. His ability to generate offense for himself, coupled with his toughness and downhill mentality, makes him a guard worth monitoring in the 2028 class.
