Oregon Summer League: 2027 And 2028 Impactful Forwards

The Oregon Summer League takes place on Tuesday nights at the schools fieldhouse. 16 teams from numerous conferences take to the floor to compete. I was at this week's games and was able to watch half the teams play. In this article we will take a look at a half dozen forwards who made impacts for their respective teams.    Possesses a stronger built frame at the PF spot. Presented verticality beneath to come up with a couple clean blocks defensively. Was balanced positioning wise underneath for opportunities while catching it cleanly. Rim runs with stamina as team likes to push and play an aggressive defensive scheme. Consumed contact while taking to the rack to get to stripe consistently. An active 2-way prospect.     Saw Saathoff play during scholastic MLK tourney time and he popped out in the game because of his rebounding efforts on both sides. At only 6'2 he plays the power forward position because of team's make-up. His undersized height is made up for with a determination to continue to crash the glass out of sheer will to win the rebounding game. Times it effectively against more size. Offensively added in a couple baseline drive finishes as well as a quick back door cut and conversion. A selfless board man that competes.     McGowan can put a defender on his back on the low block or hash and knows how to make a post move with inclined footwork. After the catch made atleast 3 and1's on tough finishes. Up and under, drop step, and spin move after the catch are in his arsenal. As basketball has progressed to such a positionless style of game, it was refreshing to see a guy know how to work the low post area while starting with his back to the basket. Defensively walls up consistently and came up with a block. Team has some development to go still but he will impact with anchoring the interior with a strong skill set.       Frame more aligned for the grid iron but he gets it done on the hardwood as well. Bangs underneath for hard earned points using strength and broadness to advantage. Bullied way through contact multiple times while enduring physicality underneath for a couple tough finishes. A bit undersized in height at the power forward spot but has a competitive demeanor to execute and help make winning plays.     Saw Williams play once this past winter for scholastic team as a Souphmore that contributed quite a bit for a 30+ win team. Has gotten stronger and more mobile since then. Frame has been built up a bit more. Will bulldoze and power way through at times underneath utilizing that strength. Runs the floor hard. Sufficient passer from inside and out. Caught it on the block to make a good spray out read and then another pass form the perimeter to a cutter for an assist. Glue guy that play hard both ways.     Long and lanky framed post at this stage who will utilize interior to advantage. Efficient finisher at the rim while getting opportunities from guards during dishes or drop offs. Did most of his scoring work from locating to openings in the paint and going up right away after receiving. Another Forward for the Storm that runs with solid pace keeping up with team's tempo. Showed some shooting ability to step back and knock down a 3 off the bounce as well.
