Here are the final two teams of our NW June D1 Showcase preview. Both teams return quite a few guys from last year's teams, and both were state qualifiers in their respective state tournaments. West Valley was among the best teams in 4A last season, just missing out on a top-six finish. They have a couple top prospects in the 2028 and 2029 classes, and should continue to be in the discussion for years to come. Wilsonville exited their state tournament in the opening round, but they have some real size at key positions, as well as returning all but three players from last season's 17-win team.

West Valley-Yakima (WA)

Classification: 4A

2025-26 Record: 19-5

Key Players

[player_tooltip player_id='2627880' first='Jrayden' last='Whitfield'] 6-5 SG 2029

One of the top prospects in this Washington 2029 class, Whitfield was a huge asset from 3-point range last season. He's grown a little since then and while his shooting is still what draws you in, he's adding more to his game on both ends of the floor. Was already a solid defender last season but that added length allows him to challenge more shots and to be a bigger factor around the rim. His scoring could tick up this winter with his added size, strength, and improved ability to score off the bounce.

[player_tooltip player_id='2627288' first='Jett' last='Bremerman'] 6-4 SG 2028

Bremerman was another key outside threat for the Rams last season but he's really a kid who contributes all around to their efforts. He mixes up his attacks well, makes good decisions with the ball, will defend his butt off, and shows great hustle out there. He's a player who can explode as their secondary scorer or defend and do the little things all night.

[player_tooltip player_id='2473468' first='Austin' last='Birley'] 6-6 PG 2028

Birley is one of the top in-state prospects and it's not hard to see when you watch the 6-foot-6 point guard play. He was the Big 9 Defensive Player of the Year last season, and is a guy who on the offensive end, really understands his strengths and advantages over defenders and how he and his team should attack the opposition. Plays at his pace and loves to score around the paint and use his usual size advantage to elevate over defenses. He's recently picked up offers from Washington, Saint Louis, and Washington State.

Wilsonville (OR)

Classification: 5A

2025-26 Record: 17-9

Key Players

[player_tooltip player_id='2539884' first='Aazzee' last='Breaux'] 6-7 SF 2027

One of the best run-and-jump athletes in the state of Oregon, Breaux is fully healthy and looking forward to a big senior season. With his length and leaping ability he makes plays above the rim and can either glide to the rim for a finish or drop jumpshots from the perimeter over opponents. His length allows him to be a threat both in the passing lanes and as a shot-blocker.

[player_tooltip player_id='2698661' first='Jett' last='Bruce'] 6-1 G 2027

An all-around athlete who can play any position on the perimeter, Bruce is strong with the basketball and can equally attack the basket or hit open shots from the outside. He's a very good rebounder for his size and has the ability to guard multiple positions.

Will Maina 5-10 G 2027

A steady combo guard, Maina is a veteran backcourt performer that has a good feel for the game and makes good decisions with the ball. He has the capability of getting hot from the perimeter with his shooting and is also capable of creating off the dribble.
