NW June D1 Event Primer: Lake City, Lake Washington, LaSalle

In this preview, we are touching on three teams from the great Pacific Northwest (Idaho, Washington, and Oregon). Lake City are the defending 6A champions in Idaho and return Idaho's 2026 Gatorade Player of the year, Jordan Carlson. They've got some size across all positions and should be in store for another solid campaign next winter. Lake Washington is another squad returning its top player, and while they also lose some key guys, their guard depth should continue to be a strength as they prepare for next season. LaSalle didn't have the same kind of success that either Lake City or Lake Washington had last year, but they still have some solid prospects to watch, led by speedy point guard, [player_tooltip player_id='2211742' first='Riggy' last='Khyungra'].   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Lake City (ID)</h3>   Classification: 6A   2025-26 Record: 19-8   Key Players   Jordan Carlson 6-7 PF 2027   The Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year, Carlson returns to Lake City for his senior year after leading them to a 6A state title last season. He's a versatile forward who plays well away from the hoop, can face up and shoot over defenders, but also has a pretty solid handle and can attack off the bounce. Will play a point forward role for them at times and has shown he can make all kinds of passes from different depths and angles. He's going to control the tempo when he has the rock and his skill set allows him to play from just about any spot on the floor.   Jackson Anderson 6-4 G 2027   Anderson is a strong guard who can put the ball in the hoop from different spots. Has the base and upper body strength to take guards into the post and back them down. Can shoot it from long range too, and is generally a pretty efficient attacker who picks his spots well, won't over dribble, and is willing to be patient and work within the offense for great shots.   [player_tooltip player_id='2757978' first='Andy' last='Irgens'] 6-5 G 2028   Irgens is another strong guard at Lake City who played a key role on last season's state championship squad. He's a decent athlete at 6-foot-5 who can play high around the rim, has the strength to challenge guys inside, and will chip in on the glass while playing physical defense.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Lake Washington (WA)</h3>   Classification: 4A   2025-26 Record: 25-5   Key Players   Ajay Ikeda 6-0 PG 2027   The senior guard should help add some key depth to their backcourt this winter. He's a guard who can come in, play with some pace and energy, and can add to their ability to space the floor. They relied on back court depth and being able to put guys in different spots last season, and Ikeda should be a key player in maintaining that approach.   [player_tooltip player_id='2144895' first='Jayden' last='Hunt'] 6-0 PG 2027   Hunt has put in a solid spring with Seattle Select. He's a point guard who plays with deception, constantly changing speeds and demonstrating how effective he is at attacking angles and creating separation at the last moment. He is a good 3-point shooter and gets a ton of his looks by moving with the rock, and showing why he's one of the better players at using screens in his class. He's also a very patient player who keeps the ball flowing and makes each possession count.   Drew Roberts 6-4 SF 2027   Roberts is a lanky wing who can give them another taller option to come in and stretch defenses. He's a kid who can knock down the three at a decent clip and work in some attacks against closeouts. He should be a player who can run some pick and pop actions outside to keep the middle open for them.   [player_tooltip player_id='2835548' first='Omer' last='Ziklik'] 6-0 CG 2027   Ziklik really turned some heads at last season's 3A state tournament. He is a true combo guard who partners really well with [player_tooltip player_id='2144895' first='Jayden' last='Hunt'] to play both on and off the ball. He's tough, can handle contact on drives, keep his line, and then still has the presence to feel secondary defenders and identify his shooting windows. Will also knock down the three at a good clip, and has been a key ball-handler that really mitigates any sort of full court pressure they might face.   [player_tooltip player_id='2629641' first='Jake' last='Fox'] 6-3 SG 2028   Fox is a pretty athletic guard who can give them a bit of a different look in the backcourt. He has a little more size and length than their other guards, and while he can shoot it a bit, he's more of a slashing guard/wing who can also help out on the glass.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">LaSalle (OR)</h3>   Classification: 5A   2025-26 Record: 10-14   Key Players   [player_tooltip player_id='2211742' first='Riggy' last='Khyungra'] 5-9 PG 2027   One of 5A's top scorers the past two seasons, Khyungra has already surpassed 1000 career points going into his senior year.  The 5-foot-9 guard is one of the fastest players in the state, capable of getting hot from three-point range or blowing by defenders getting to the hoop.  He is a capable passer and an absolute pest on the defensive end with his quickness.   [player_tooltip player_id='2779319' first='Diesel' last='Renner'] 5-11 CG 2027   The main outside shooter for La Salle is Renner, who excels in converting catch-and-shoot opportunities especially from the corners.  Far from a standstill shooter, the rising senior can also put the ball on the floor a little and score in the lane.   [player_tooltip player_id='2539901' first='Matthew' last='Tesfa'] 6-1 SF 2027   La Salle's jack-of-all-trades utility man is Tesfa, who gets the most out of his 6-foot-1 size on both ends of the floor.  The rising senior's motor is non-stop and he'll out-rebound bigger players down low and has the ability to guard positions 1-5 on the defensive end.  He's an underrated scorer as well.
