The Ray Milnes Shootout at Stagg High School always provides an early look at South Suburban talent, and this year's event featured some new players who caught my attention.

Jovan Nesby | Oak Forest | 2027

Nesby emerged as one of the more intriguing new names at the event. The 6-foot-5 post prospect is a relentless worker around the basket who consistently found ways to impact the game. He finished efficiently in the paint, attacked the glass with purpose, and showed impressive feel from the high post, delivering a handful of well-timed passes to cutters. Considering he wasn't on the varsity roster last season, Nesby looks like a player whose stock could rise quickly this summer.

Dereon Savage | Homewood-Flossmoor | 2027

Savage's physical tools immediately stand out. The 6-foot-7 athletic forward was dominant on the glass and consistently altered shots with his length and verticality around the rim. The springy lefty showcased his athleticism with several dunks and lob finishes while providing high-level rim protection on the defensive end. His vocal leadership, energy, and nonstop motor make him a valuable presence on both ends of the floor.

Aidan Bach | Lincoln-Way West | 2027

Bach impressed with his blend of athleticism, skill, and scoring versatility. The 6-foot-2 guard plays with plenty of bounce and uses his quickness to create opportunities for himself and others. He finished over length at the rim, knocked down shots from deep range, and displayed the ability to score at all three levels. Combined with his vision and playmaking instincts, Bach looks poised to be one of the more productive guards in the area.

Samuel Carter | Homewood-Flossmoor | 2027

Carter is a strong, well-built guard who thrives when attacking downhill. He repeatedly got into the paint using crafty ball-handling moves, spin finishes, and aggressive drives to the basket. His ability to navigate traffic and put pressure on defenders stood out throughout the day. With his combination of size, toughness, and offensive creativity, Carter appears to have a legitimate opportunity to carve out a role in Homewood-Flossmoor's talented and youthful rotation.

[player_tooltip player_id='3592174' first='Bobby' last='Brusek'] | Marist | 2028

Brusek showcased why he is a name to monitor in the Redhawks program. The 6-foot-5 stretch forward knocked down multiple three-pointers and energized the crowd with a rim-grazing dunk that brought the Marist bench to its feet. His combination of size, shooting ability, and versatility gives him intriguing upside. As the defending state champions look to reload, Brusek possesses the tools to compete for minutes moving forward.
