Lynden Green and Gold Summer Invite: More Standout Players

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There was 23 varsity teams at the Lynden Green and Gold summer invite that happened over the past weekend and so many players had great games. Here's a recap of some more standout players.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Shuaib Anbesse - Sammamish </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Shuaib did a great job at getting to the paint to play off two feet and get his buckets. He played with precision, knowing when to attack and how to get his buckets. His vision on the court was great too, being able to see opposite court and find teammates smoothly.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3258628' first='Braden' last='Santos'] - Grandview</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Grandview was a new-look team this year during the summer but still has a lot of talent. Santos stood out to me the most, being able to play anywhere on the court. He can handle the ball well enough to bring up the ball and even be able to display his vision on the court by finding open teammates. He has a soft touch around the rim and can knock down jumpers with ease. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3337188' first='Lewis' last='Whitney'] - Lynden</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lynden is looking a lot different this year, having lost over half of their role players from last year due to graduation or athletes moving. Whitney is going to be one of the main pieces for the Lions, being able to utilize his size and rebound the ball really well. He can seal his opponents nicely too, being able to get open for his teammates. He is a defensive monster, being able to track the ball to block shots with ease. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2629628' first='Carter' last='Langum'] - Lakewood</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Carter is going to have to play out of his position this season for his squad, as their team is a bit undersized. He was playing in the post on the defensive side over the weekend and did a great job at holding his own in the paint and on the rebounding side of things. Offensively, the team spaced it out well, using paint touches to get open looks on the outside. Langum knocked down 3's with ease and uses his vision to find teammates. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2182848' first='Quincy' last='Tanovan'] - Sehome</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Quincy is the main option for the Mariners this upcoming season and he has been doing a great job this summer at stepping up as a leader and being a high level playmaker for his teammates. His lefty shot is smooth and he can get his shot off quickly, not needing much space. He uses his speed to his advantage too, blowing by opponents often and getting to the bucket. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Holden Briner - Blaine</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Holden was a guard who was making plays all over the court. He played great defense, staying ready and on his toes at all times. His deep shot on offense really stood out, draining multiple with ease and being able to let it fly without setting his feet fully. He communicates well to his teammates, calling out what he sees and being a true leader on the court.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2812716' first='Carter' last='Douvia'] - Overlake</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Carter was awesome to watch all weekend. He knows what spots to attack to get his shot off and has a really smooth pull-up mid-range shot. He stayed patient when getting to the bucket and displayed elite footwork in the paint to get open shots off while playing off two feet. He had a great weekend and I am excited to see him next year. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
