Building Buzz: G1 Circuit 2027/2028 Guards Who Steal the Show

It was an eventful weekend in Bryan at the Legends Event Center where all age levels of teams made their presence known on Friday-Sunday. 15u-17u teams battled for position in the standings and got some clutch wins under their belt. I was able to gather 15 players who stood out to me this weekend and made their way onto my radar for the rest of the summer and possibly their high school career. Here is my second batch of standouts from the GASO G1 Stage in Bryan!    [player_tooltip player_id='2555458' first='Elijah' last='Lacy'] made several high-level shots for North Houston Hustle 17u in their win over Shooters HQ in Saturday primetime. Lacy can play either guard position but spent most of the game at the two slot and helped handle the ball under full court pressure. He displayed that he could shoot over opposition either off the dribble or from a catch and shoot standstill. His hustle to save out of bounds loose balls was unmatched and he had several defensive stops on the perimeter that the Hustle capitalized on and used to their advantage. Elijah has definitely made his way onto my radar for the rest of this AAU summer and his high school career.     A great hustle and glue guy for Go Get It Select, [player_tooltip player_id='2686452' first='Karsen' last='Ramsey'] makes plays happen on both sides of the ball and shows versatility as both a top defender and scorer. Ramsey excels at either guard slot and showed that he is always willing to take the game changing shot or make the extra pass to an open teammate. Ramsey has showcased himself against taller opposition and this continued at the G1 Stage this weekend in Bryan, displaying toughness and effort in the post.     Chase Groce used size and fundamentals to control the post for Miles Select in their early game on Saturday against Tx Grind. He grabbed second chance rebounds on both ends and put up quick buckets at the basket as a result of sealing off opposing players and intimidation due to his size. I like Chase's ability to also handle the ball on the perimeter and excel off the pick and roll going to the basket.     Luke puts pressure on opposing players with his passing ability and court awareness on offense. He has aggressive perimeter defense, and this allows him to create turnovers leading to easy transition opportunities for the Toros. He plays at a particularly fast pace but still has the IQ to slow down the pace of the game when his team is in the lead in key situations. He got to the rim with a smooth dribble package and can shoot off the dribble when left enough space by the defense.     Noah is a physical 2028 guard/wing that makes high energy plays and can score from all three levels. Mermea had several clutch momentum-shifting loose ball moments where he picked up the rock and drove to the basket, even against multiple defenders and finished through tough contact. He shows a deep skillset that includes him affecting the game in multiple facets: defense, finishing and ballhandling.
