Built For the Big Stage: G1 Series Bryan Impact Performers

The G1 Circuit continued this weekend under the bright lights of Bryan, TX at the Legends Event Center. Several teams showed up to compete and make their case for why they should be considered for championship aspirations. I attended this event on Saturday from sunup to sundown and witnessed some key performances from players I had never watched before who have now made their way onto my radar. Let's take a look at some players who stood out to me not just in the scoring column, but impacting the game in all facets!    DJ is a major bucket getter and makes things happen on both sides of the ball for RTX Hoops. Dual threat scorer and playmaker who can excel playing either guard slot and creates shots well for himself off the dribble. Speedy and shifty dribble packages allow him to beat opposing matchups to his spots and get teammates open as well. Quick and effective when in downhill transition situations and always on the attack if he sees a mismatch he can exploit. Easily one of the most complete 2027 guards I watched this weekend!     Lucas Clark scores from all three levels at a high percentage and knows how to pick his shots carefully. Elite decision making with the ball in his hands and court awareness allow him to pick apart any type of defense and create good looks at the basket for himself and teammates. Has good size and poise at the guard slot, mostly played point guard on Saturday and showcased his one-on-one ability in isolation situations and getting into the lane.     Raul Palacios was an all-around multitool player for STX Bandits 17u this weekend. Shoots the ball efficiently from deep, draws contact fouls and gets to the line, and defends with aggressiveness. Palacios picks his spots carefully and makes defenders pay if they fail to close out on him when shooting jumpers. His unmatched energy and hustle helped the Bandits maintain a lead throughout the entire duration of the game. Raul has established himself as one of the most complete players I have watched so far this grassroots season.     Mr. Young was a key 2029 guard who made good plays and showcased good court awareness for TX Grind in their first game of the day. The speedy and shifty point guard has high IQ decision making and can draw fouls consistently at the basket. Andrew controls the game's pace well and was good at directing teammates on where to go during offensive sets. Possessing good height and a long wingspan at the guard slot allows him to play passing lanes well, get steals, and sprint off in transition for fastbreak buckets.     Jake Allen was one of the better effort and hustle players I watched all day at GASO Bryan. His second half consistency in the paint almost keyed a huge comeback for Shooters HQ Red in their game against HD Toros. Jake was instrumental in sealing off defenders and positioned himself well in the post to finish over the top of multiple closing out players and got several layups off his team's immense full court pressure. Allen's vocal ability helps him put himself in key positions for steals and quick buckets at the basket.
