Upper Midwest Finals: Friday Night's Top 15U Performers

15U action git underway Friday night at Maple Grove Middle School as part of the Upper Midwest Finals. Night one saw players put their skills on display in a variety of ways, whether hit was knocking down big shots, creating offense or playing lockdown defense. Here are five standout performances from Friday's action.    Shelby is a top notch forward with a combination of size and shooting ability that makes him an offensive threat. The 6'0 tall forward has no problem driving the lane and making things happen at the rim, using his size to work his way in the post. But he's not afraid to hit a jumper from outside as well, knocking down a key three ball foe LEAD Sports Academy on Friday night. With his size and frame he impacts the game on both the offensive and defensive glass with an ability to draw fouls.     Millar showcased his versatility at the power forward for the [program_tooltip program_id='2075681' first='Minnesota' last='Magic'] on Friday night with a strong jump shot Millar is comfortable shooting from beyond the arc. On defense the power forward showed he can play in the front court defending the rim and getting his hands up to block and contest shots. With his height and length Millar makes it difficult for the opposition to score in the paint, while also being able to box out and grab rebounds as well.     Jacobs was a threat from beyond the arc all night long for the Grand Forks Heat on Friday. The guard possesses a confident jumper that allows him to hit big shots with ease. Jacobs sharpshooting ability was a difference maker in a closely contested game that saw him knock down a trey to tie the game before half while also coming up with a clutch bucket to take the lead in the second half. At the point Jacobs can create offense as well, showcasing strong vision to open up offense for the Heat coming up with multiple assists.     Nielson played a pivotal role in keeping the game close for the [program_tooltip program_id='2075310' first='Northstar' last='Titans'] on Friday night with a strong jumper. The shooting guard knocked down three balls from the corner on multiple occasions, showing a keen ability to get open looks. Nearing the half Nielson helped the Titans tie the game up with a big three ball. Down the stretch Nielson played a pivotal role in creating offense for the Titans with a strong jumpshot.     With a strong drive to the rim Sheriff helped the Heat dominate in the paint on Friday night. With his size he was able to get to the rack and pick up easy buckets while also cleaning up with more than a few offensive boards. The forward isn't afraid to take shots from the perimeter either with a strong jumper that allows him to hit from three-point range.
