Georgia continues to produce a deep and talented group of lead guards in the 2027 class, and the spring travel season only reinforced that reputation. From high level shot creators to true floor generals who can run a team and make winning plays, several point guards strengthened their standing with impressive performances. Here's a closer look at some of the top point guards in our Updated 2027 Rankings heading into a pivotal summer evaluation periods.

READ MORE: Top Point Guards in Updated 2027 Georgia Rankings

Cannon emerged as one of the more productive lead guards on the UA Rise circuit this spring while competing with the Atlanta All Stars. An aggressive, scoring point guard, he combines good speed, above average quickness, and excellent change of pace ability to consistently put pressure on opposing defenses. Cannon is a skilled ball handler who can create his own offense off the dribble and is equally capable of facilitating for teammates when opportunities arise. A reliable perimeter shot maker with range beyond the arc, he forces defenders to respect his jumper, opening driving lanes where he excels. Once in the paint, Cannon is a creative finisher who uses body control, touch, and craftiness to score against size and athleticism. His combination of scoring ability, playmaking instincts, shot making, and competitiveness makes him one of the more intriguing lead guard prospects to monitor this summer.

Barnes stood out with the Southern Kings on the New Balance P32 circuit, showcasing the skill, quickness, and toughness that make him a difficult matchup in the backcourt. A quick, shifty lead guard, he excels at breaking down defenders and consistently getting into the paint. Barnes is a creative finisher around the rim, using body control, touch, and craftiness to score against bigger defenders, and he is comfortable finishing with either hand. He changes directions well, keeps defenders off balance, and plays with confidence when attacking off the dribble. While his ability to get downhill is his biggest strength, he is also a capable perimeter shooter who can knock down open shots and make defenses pay for going under screens.

Love competed with AE5 on the adidas 3SSB circuit and consistently showcased the toughness and scoring ability that make him an intriguing lead guard prospect in the 2027 class. Possessing good strength and athleticism, he excels at attacking the paint and putting pressure on defenses off the dribble. Love is a strong finisher around the rim, using his body well to absorb contact and score in traffic. He is particularly effective in the midrange, where he consistently creates separation and knocks down pull-up jumpers with confidence. His perimeter shot continues to be a reliable weapon, making him a threat to score at multiple levels. Beyond his offensive production, Love competes on the defensive end, bringing energy and physicality while embracing tough assignments. .

Abanikanda put together a solid spring with Tier 2 Elite, consistently showcasing the skill, poise, and basketball IQ that make him an effective lead guard. A shifty playmaker who changes speeds exceptionally well, he plays with outstanding pace and keeps defenders off balance with his ability to control tempo. Abanikanda is effective at getting into the paint, using his quickness, body control, and decision making to get into the paint and create scoring opportunities. Once there, he is a crafty and efficient finisher who can score through traffic and make plays for teammates. His high basketball IQ is evident in the way he reads defenses, particularly in ball screen situations where he consistently makes the right reads and decisions. He is also a reliable perimeter shooter who can knock down open shots from beyond the arc, making him a threat at multiple levels.

As the starting point guard for the Atlanta All-Stars, he consistently sets the tone with his blend of scoring, playmaking, and leadership. A skilled lead guard, he combines good strength, speed, and change of pace ability to keep defenders off balance and create advantages for his team. He is a capable scorer who can knock down perimeter shots, create his own offense off the dribble, and make defenses pay when given space. Equally effective as a facilitator, he makes sound decisions with the basketball, creates quality opportunities for teammates, and shows a strong understanding of how to control the game. He reads ball screens well, consistently making the right play whether it's finding an open teammate, getting into the paint, or creating his own shot. A creative finisher around the rim, he uses body control, touch, and toughness to score in traffic.
