Cannon is putting together a monster junior campaign for the Lions as they prepare to face North Cobb Christian tomorrow night. He’s averaging 20.4 points per game and has knocked down 74 three-pointers, emerging as one of the most dangerous perimeter scorers in the area.
A skilled lead guard with above-average quickness, Cannon changes speeds effectively and keeps defenders off balance off the bounce. He is a reliable three-point shooter who can stretch the floor, but he is equally comfortable creating his own offense and breaking down defenders in isolation. Once in the paint, he shows creativity and touch as a finisher, making him a true three-level scoring threat and a tough cover.

era has officially begun at Lovett. Cannon entered the year with some huge shoes to fill but it didn’t take him long to adjust to the high school game. He’s extremely confident in his ability and we saw that from game one. Cannon shot it very well from beyond the arc this year, connecting on 42% of his attempts. He also averaged 15 PPG, multiple outings with 25+ points.

. Cannon plays with an IQ beyond his years and finds ways to impact the game beyond his scoring ability. That being said, Cannon shoots the three extremely well and loves to turn loose balls into fastbreak points. Cannon will have to learn on the fly this year but often times, that can be the most beneficial.

As time elapsed into the later afternoon hours, Cannon’s team at Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase was locked in one of the more competitive contests of the day. Cannon looked like he had been there before in situations where the stakes were much higher than they were on Sunday. One has a hard time containing Cannon once he finds a lane to the rim as he will take full advantage of the opportunity he has. Drawing contact and getting to the free throw line is another advantage he has and he can get creative at times with how he finishes at the cup.

makes another appearance in our Volume Scorers section after pouring in the points on Sunday. Cannon shoots the three-ball at a high clip and did a lot of that but I was even more impressed by his natural scoring instincts, able to anticipate the defensive movements and punish them in a variety of ways. He’s got quick hands defensively and racked up a ton of transition points off of turnovers too.

His IQ and feel for the game are both years beyond his age. Lovett will have one of the state’s youngest backcourts this year but the
